Useless & Overpriced Crown Merchant! (Doesn't Repair)

ScarEra
ScarEra
I spent 5000 crowns over the new crown assistant (Merchant) to find out that it doesn't repair your damaged gears. What a wastE! I could have fully upgraded my horse speed or bag space.. I'm not using the stupid merchant at all :/

This is to let you know that it doesn't repair like EVERY OTHER MERCHANT in the game..

They both have a starting points if ZOS just adds on the parts that will make them useful. Than that would be nice. I bought the banker and it's fun to use.

Yeah this is true. Unfortunately the restrictions on the assistants are not clear. If you like, you can put in a support ticket and try to get a refund. ZOS have refunded other players who bought the assistants without realising their restrictions. See, for example, this post.

I'll be happy if they refund me, thank you, I raised my ticket.

And lesson learned, I just created my forum account to whine and warn about this issue and I'll think twice before buying anything from the crown. :/

I'm sitting on more than enough Crowns, earn more than enough to afford trivial pleasantries like these... but am not in the habit of wasting funds. The pricing guaranteed I'd pass on both assistant NPCs and the lack of critical features (i.e., repairs, guild bank) would have been an important factor into just how much I would spend were Zeni to lower the price.

I really see no reason not to allow repairs... and it actually doesn't make sense that they chose to exclude that feature.

That said, it would come as no shock to me if they were to patch it in... unless they consider it a game-breaking mechanic if available on-demand. I feel the same about the pricing- there will come a time when assistant sales crawl to a halt and we see a discounted day/period.

Update: They didn't refund me as told, my ticket was ignored for the first time aaand this will be the last time to buy from the crown and I'll never renew my ESO plus.

Use Wykkyd's auto repair add on. Merchant automatically repairs items. Tried it on a grouped crown merchant today and all my items were repaired as normal.

That's odd, they can't have double standards. Poke them, give examples of previous refunds, state that the Merchant, by virtue of having the title "Merchant", should offer the same services as every other "Merchant" and that using the same title for something with reduced functionality is misleading. (The examples of previous refunds is the important one.)

Eeh, I'll raise another ticket using your template. If it didnt work, I'll just give up. I'm mad mostly not because of the crowns but the way they did it.

The crown store description is deliberately misleading, which is absolutely unforgivable. I'd already checked the assistants out on the PTS so I knew the limitations, but they are not mentioned in the description in store.

When asking for a refund, do so politely and even a little humour. The person on the other end is still a human and will respond more favourably to a polite request than a rant. Honey gets you a better response than vinegar; if you can make them smile, they're more likely to deal with the problem. This has worked for me every time I've submitted a ticket (including a refund).

To be honest, in the "additional information" I wrote "thieves" :( I was mad and I think that's why i didn't get any response on my 2 tickets..

Request a refund politely and hopefully your luck will be better than mine.

They told me it's a one time courtesy, fair enough.

    Thank you all!

Still the problem persists. The infomation given on the storepage is not equiped with enough infomation. Not everyone goes to the forum first nor knows they can request the refund. Zenimax needs to update the infomation!

Can anyone confirm that this works? Can you really bypass the restriction with an add-on?

If not people could "rent" items from the cash shop. I think thats why they say one time only. I do believe if you have a legit issue in the future they wont blow you off saying you had your one trouble ticket.

Except that i won't have a similar problem, from now on, I'll check the forum before i buy anything from the crown store.. I'll not trust the description anymore.

I did but would welcome confirmation by someone else. As ScarEra notes above, I am on PC so cannot guarantee it would work on any other system.

Even if not, Wykkyd's auto-repair is well worth having. Every time you visit a merchant it automatically repairs your items (you can set it up for ones you are wearing or including ones in your inventory) without needing to press any repair buttons.

If it works on the crown bought merchant, that would mean the functionality is active on said merchant, but the command button is intentionally hidden. That makes it even worse why they would disable the button at all.

    ^^ This ^^

Would love to see some solid confirmation that this actually works. If so, I'd probably spend the Crowns on the Merchant.

To be honest I think both merchant and banker are a bit stupid idea for an assistan. The smuggler not so as it is logical to have a brave and greedy sidekick walking with you and taking your stuff to closest black market for a small cut. It is actually quite well made.

I see no reason though why a banker would like to join me in a crypt filled with undead or what kind of business a merchant would do in Vaults of Madness. And how is that banker able to walk around the world with all your stuff in his pockets? Those must be the biggest pockets ever! (Well actually, the merchant assistant might have bigger ones.)

People complain that the merchant can't repair but if it did, repair kits would become obsolate item and the game would become more or less "pay to win" as people with merchant would have no need to leave a dungeon just becouse their items broke. They are already able to run from dungeon to dungeon hoarding everything and selling it to the merchant who wont even charge anything for following you. This speeds up money making a lot.

Instead of these 2 strange enterpreneurs, they could have made an assistant who could have just carried a few items for us, serving as extra bag space.
And yes, 5K Crowns for an assistan is a bit too much.

Ok everyone. I was in a group today and someone else had the merchant. I used the addon. I attach the screenshot. Please see the notes in the chat window: repairing took place. Short of buying the merchant myself, this is the best evidence of the addon working to repair items I can provide.

The Banker and Merchant are one of ZOS's biggest ripoffs to date. They both are a complete waste of crowns.

When talking repair of items there is no reason why a player should not be able to repair his or her own items if they are a master in blacksmithing, clothing or woodworking. Many threads have asked ZOS to add a repair passive to those skill lines. Of course that will not happen.
