Hi. I was in the ESO beta but gave up playing soon after launch when they nerffed the PVE difficulty. Another reson was that stamina builds were far behind magcika builds and everyone ended up wearing a frock and pew pewing. Are things better balanced now? Thinking of diving in again for another bash.

They're getting there for sure. PVE seems fine to me but I didn't play back then, regarding the magicka/stamina balance I couldn't tell you for certain but in PVP both seem to stand a chance.

Run while you still can, atm it's nothing but dissapointments PvP wise. However if you are into it for the PvE, then i guess it could be worth giving it a shot.

And dont expect performance even close to what you had in beta, its worse now.

Magicka > Stamina, that's the current meta. And if you really try the game, don't be surprised to see a lot of bugs that have been here since beta. A lot of things have changed, but quality is still not one of ZO$ talents. But you will see a lot of cash grabs like crafting motifs for 50 bucks, or bank assistants for 50 bucks or fire/ice horses and camels for whatever they cost now...

PvE is even easier with exception of few instanced elements. PvP is a mess. Compared to beta stamina builds do much better but right now in PvP magica rules.

You are one of the lucky ones. You witnessed the beta where most things worked and there was no lag. Hold that tought and run.. RUN FOR YER LIVE.

Remember the difficulty nerf which made you leave because it was bad? Multiply that by 9000 and that's the state of the game now.

    It's free to try.

It's pretty damned faceroll easy if you are used to the controls.

Someone asks if they should rejoin a game after almost two years, and is told not to by the game's own community. Really sad, but almost completely justified. :(

@Hilgara I would personally try it out again if I were you to gather your own thoughts, but recommend to return when Dark Brotherhood releases and a host of changes go into play.

I left when the game went F2P as I was just to livid to play anymore after being lied too.
Recently calmed down enough to try it again (Black Desert online failed to impress).
I'm happy enough re-discovering everything again plus the other stuff like Thieving and new guilds, places ect.

I did make a new char as I seemed to have forgotten how to play a VR6, took quite a while to make as there is a massive bug in char creation that crashes the game (yup I would have thought that would have been a priority to fix too).
Only other thing that's grating me already is the constant dis-connects in EU on PC. They claim it's not them apparently but the funny thing is that i'm using the exact same laptop (MSI Apache Pro) that I used a year ago and it didn't crash then.

So to sum it up, it's good enough to try again as new stuff has been added, just don't expect the bugs to have gotten any better than in Beta (yup I played thru that too) ZoS still has that trait of not listening to the players whilst claiming they are doing. Just aslong as the cash rolls in they will continue to make new fluff for the shop........I don't think they will ever sort out stability of the client thou. It's free to play though so you really have nothing to lose.

If you left because of the didiculty nerf, well, they have progressively made it easier since then.

But welcome back... I know a good amount of people who left because of the nerfs. Good to see you are at least poking your head in to look how its going now.

Yeah i know, but now it is that on steroids with CP. But you get what i am saying, characters are insanely powerful now with CP.

If your here for PVE, then yeah its probably not that bad..its not great mind you, but its not terrible either...its simply average.

If your here for PVP? just run...unless lag is your thing its a waste of time.

the CS has made nearly everything a faceroll in PVe anyways.

@Hilgara It's worth re-trying if you have 30ish gb free of download left on your internet provider (all depending when was the last time you updated the game)

Definitely go with the ESO+ sub if you want to try the 3 new zones (Imperial City, Orsinium, Hew's Bane)

    BUT

I would suggest you wait until the release of Dark Brotherhood, get ESO+ for a month then, try out the dlcs with ESO+ and then cancel it.

Truth be told at the rythm I'm playing (once a week for a few hours) it took me maybe 10-14 hours to roll through all the content of Orsinium, Imperial City storyline is mostly unplayable and Hew's Bane lost my interest after just 2-3 hours. As for PVP or PVE, I am strongly of the opinion that PVE was at its best in the Beta, PVP was at its best in the first months after release - now it's all just DPS walls everywhere, it's been overall going downhill ever since. (sadly). There's been some great new additions since the beta, which is why I do suggest you try it (given thats its FREE now) - but I do not expect you'll be enchanted. I know I've stopped 'trying' to like the game and will only log in now and then if I'm ridiculously bored (and most of the time I'll just log back out after running around for a bit).

    it is still easy-ish
orsinium and thieves guild DLC has some hard content that requires other players bc you cannot solo them (as far as ive seen it takes ~3 and they die a couple times)

magicka is still better bc of sustain and spamable shields and ez mode dps for pvp especially with this update

its A LOT better since the launch
i quit too when it was nerfed but im enjoying it now

May the Schwartz be with you.

I don't get people. I have never encountered anything in any game that was difficult the moment you had more than one competent player. Player mistakes are not game difficulty, and its impossible to make a NPC not follow a pattern/become unpredictable.

Aka there is no such thing as difficult NPC content when in a group. Imo only other humans can even come close to providing a challenge to another semi intelligent being. Once you figure out the AI and patterns any game is a faceroll.

Heck even all the nerfs in pvp because people didnt learn and adapt.

Thanks for the replays. Dont think I'll bother. The downloader gives no option to change to D: drive. Like lots on new puters I have very little space on C: drive but a terabyte on D. If they cant get that right then what hope for the game?

Not to be rude or anything, but they do have that option. This is a you problem not a problem with the program. You choose the drive location during the initial install, not with the patcher.

I was also a Beta player and strictly PVE.
I left when they released IC because it seemed coupled with Consul and F2P they were off down the full PvPer route.
This was hard to do as not since the first weeks of Everquest was I this excited about a game, it looked and felt amazing.

But a few weeks ago I came back for another try and as far as PVE goes im loving it.
Sure there are still bugs and folks always go on about Beta was best, Vanilla Rocked bla bla in nearly every game ive played (and ive played a lot since the dawn of MMOs) often this is just sentimental rubbish.

If you just want to have fun, ignore fotm class/builds, play how you want, there is no MMO in existence that comes close.

My takes on the DLCs (based on me mainly being mainly a soloer)

Imperial City - utter crap for PVE (but then I missed when it was launched and popular).
Orsinium - awesome story line, loved every minute of the quests.
Thieves guild stuff - I was a bit sceptical about this as im not a sneaky type nor am I interested in being on the wrong side of the law, but it was really fun. I do hate the pick pocket Dailey's but the box/instance heists can net some decent cash.

Added to that I ventured into Cyrodiil to get the Skyshards and have found a love for the zone doing some PVE quests I never knew existed. Hiding from PvPers is a lot of fun.

I have also found the community in game (certainly PVE side) to be mature and helpful, something ive not seen since I left EQ2.

    Be safe.

If you still have the game, it's probably hopelessly out of date and you can simply do a fresh install, at which point you CAN chose a different drive.

If you have kept up with the downloads for some reason, you can also simply copy your whole ESO install folder to your D drive, start the launcher manually from there and select the "repair" option.
That way, you don't have to re-download the whole game. Of course, if you do that, you need to update any shortcuts you may have had to your game files.

Lol I love these "thinking of returning" posts. You know you'll come back. They always do....especially since you already apparently own the game. Which btw went B2P not F2P. It won't cost you anything but time. I've also been here since beta and I love it (strictly pve, haven't tried pvp so can't speak to that).
    Enjoy your return.

You already own it, try it does not cost anything but a little time, everyone has a different opinion, and in the end the only one that matters is yours.
