Why would this be a bad idea....

Hello all.

Something has been on my mind lately and I wanted to see what everyone's opinion is on the matter. I have two v16 characters that have taken me a long time to level. I am able to game mostly on weekends due to my busy schedule. I enjoy pvp and pve. I have gotten to the point where I have pvp and pve attribute/champion point setups for both of my characters. Switching champion/attribute(and even abilities,I would prefer some morphs over others depending on situation) points is quite a pain when I decide to go from pvp to pve. For example, if I am pvp'ING on a saturday, and a couple of my friends need a tank for a vet dungeon, it's quite a pain for me to offer my services, as now I have to respect champion points etc to pve tank. The cost for respeccing champion points alone is 3000g per respect.

Why would it be a bad idea for us to be able to save a pve and pvp profile(attribute & champion point) when it comes to our characters that doesn't cost gold? The pvp profile, as an example, could be restricted for use in cyrodil/IC. At a minimum, why would it be a bad idea to allow us to save preset champion point configurations to allow easy switching?

Just want to know everyone's thoughts.

It's not a bad idea. I like the thought of having a second champion build we're able to swap to out of combat/Cyrodiil

I like the idea but I'd take it a step further and have a separate Champion build AND a separate skill bar build.

Yeah not a bad idea at all, but there would definitely have to be some limitations. Perhaps a timer of 20 hours to swap for free. Otherwise, what would stop someone from doing it mid battle? they min max for burst damage, and the second things start going south switch over to "tank style" and hold the front lines in what seems like the most god-like build ever.

Simply, separate PvE and PvP profiles is the only way the devs are ever going to balance the game. They need to be able to change skills and mechanics for one without it having influence on the other.

Of course, that would mean that we could choose separate skills and morphs for each, which would allow me to anjoy all of my toons in both PvP and PvE.

And yup, concur that having CPs linked to each profile would be nice as well

When the CP system was first introduced a year ago I had thought one of the add-on developers would build an add-on that would save CP builds. I spoke with one I knew but unfortunately he was one of the many that left the game after 1.6 was added.

Being Zos chose to be minimalist with their UI and features I doubt they would add this to the game so it would still take a 3rd party to get it done. Either way we would still have to pay the nominal 3k fee but at least we could reset the points faster and more reliably.

Why not remove the cost to respec champion points and skills? You have a build for PVP, you have a build for VMA, you have a build for min/max PVE group content. You can complete these things without changing much around but you are gimped if you go to pvp without adjusting some morphs and CP around. 14k to do a complete respec is irritating. And 3k everytime I want to try to change my CP around for something plus 3k to change it back when I'm done.

It's not a bad idea but it affects the gold sink. That's the only negative

Correct. Now, there are people that enter cyrodil/IC who wish to do pve content only. I believe an option could be presented to the player on whether they wish to change to their pvp profile, and if they do, then they cannot switch.

    Good responses so far.

This is small compared to how much is sunk in to the Kiosks.

If this were the reason given to not implement, perhaps still give us the option to pre-configure separate pve and pvp profiles and allow a one click "a pvp profile exists for this character, do you wish to spend x to switch" pop up when entering/exiting pvp zones ?

Personally I like the idea of basically having free respecs. I know waaaah carebear entitled free waaaaah. But I feel it allows for more creativity and playing with different builds. Not sure if yours works, respec try something else. It's one of the things I loved about SWTOR. I could respec and try a different play style. Still won't happen since it's in the crown store. But it's one of those things that's handy and makes your players feel like creativity and experimenting is valued.

AA AHHHH THE CROWN STORE......I didn't think of that. Well, then my previous comment would still stand(I think) Allow us to pre configure and then one click switch, with the option of spending gold or a crown store scroll....?

You couldn't have it as a forced change, like entered PVP automatically switches you to PVP set up. It would create more problems, and our current system works better than that. We're talking about a profile that could have an entirely different CP set up, morphs, attributes etc. The split can't just be PVP vs PVE, in PVP what if your Templar is speced for tanking, but the group really needs a healer? You could have the option to swap over to your healer build (within a time frame limit).
