I haven't been on my NB in a good while. She still has a mix of "best I could get on a budget" VR12-VR14 gear from a long time ago. But, I took her off the bench when I decided to try the Thieve's Guild stuff after waiting almost a month after that update launched on PC so that the crowds would die down and the most glaring bugs would be fixed. I've been having fun the last couple of days but then remembered she hadn't even completed the basic map/main quest stuff in Wrothgar, so I headed over last night. Checked a random urn and...

    RNG is a fickle *****.

    I have a character that I run around gathering with almost every night, she hasn't gotten a Kuta from a node in several months despite harvesting scores of them nightly.

    I have another that I can usually count on one per night or at least every other night.

    I'm not sure how RNG actually works in this game but is seems like it's more consistent than random.

    Yeah I rarely get anything that good on any of my characters, which is why two really rare things in a row with little effort stuck out to me so much. Figured I should enjoy the moment. :lol:

    If only my sorcerer had your luck! 4 hours of searching for nirncrux over the past two days and not a single piece. Maybe I should try my nightblade...

    I have a v16 dark elf sourc that played through dungeons like 50 times before getting 1 monster helm.

    I now have a v16 high elf sourc and I played through 3 dungeons and got monster helm drops from each for first time runs. And got Molag kena sholders that o was waiting forever for on my dark elf

    So... RNGsus does not like my nightblade. 30 seconds after I logged in on him the game crashed!

    My sorcerer did finally find a Nirncrux node though :).

    I have stuff like this happen on characters I don't play too often anymore. I think it's a nice little trick to make you want to play those characters more ;) It seems like crafting writs work the same way sometimes. If I do them every day, I get ripped off, then if I take a week off and come back, bam! Dreugh Wax, Temper, and a Glass Motif Fragment, all on the same day!

    My conspiracy theory is that there's a 'luck' variable tied to each character upon creation that determines your loot tables. That variable stays with your character forever so some will be more fortunate to get purple and gold items, others will barely get anything.

    After not finding any purple motif in months (only blue, if anything at all), I found one of those purples a few days ago during a quest sneaking through a house in Hew's Bane. As soon as I got it, a guard caught me and I lost it right away. That's MY luck. Then again, I got this motif (and most of the others) on all my 8 characters a long time ago already, so I can kinda live with it ;)
