Thing with Dyes, is the all look different on different materials. I have an L35 Alt who wears Heavy Chest, Legs and Helm and I use a Red Dye on that and it looks great, rich and vibrant and very red. When I try to apply the same dye to VR15 gear, it is pastelish and faded and kind of pink.
You really have to apply pretty much every dye to see some thing you like. I have even applied Brown dyes that come out with a nice gunmetal gray tone on some materials. One thing that can help is to hit the randomize button a few times, then you can get an idea of some dyes to try.

I dont have every motif to test so I asked in case someone already has vr16 white or red armor/robes.

The other issue is. it's not just the Materials your applying the dyes to, it's the Motifs that you are applying the dyes too. This is why I gave up on creating sets of dyes. I did it back when the dye system first came out, and the combo did not look the same on anything I applied it to.
On the other hand, we get very few players wearing the same colors in the game, so everyone looks different. But, as you have pointed out, finding the right dye combo is a daunting challenge. I am particularly keen on finding a red that looks as good as it does on my L35 for my VR15/16 gear. So, now I am furiously chasing down Dolmen Generals to get that dye unlocked to see if I have any success with it. I hope its not Regicide Red, the one you get for killing the Emperor. That is one I may never get.

Give Xivkyn a try.

It look *** sweet, might be too bright for some people though
It depends greatly on what armor type you're using. You seem to be going for light armor, so I can say for sure that the new Trinimac style looks pretty good with Julianos White, except maybe some parts of the pants, which have these godawful stains for no reason. You're gonna have a hard time with the red, though, as it will look super dark on some parts of it, super light on others, and metalic on the metal bits. It can be rough to make it work.
Mercenary light armor with a breton hood (light) dyed white and red makes you look like ezio from assasins creed. I think it looks awsome i dont have a pic but im sure you can imagine
