Thank you for this much needed reality check. There are a couple of guys in this thread badmouthing arenas as if nobody wants them.. LOL, what nonsense. Players have been begging for duels/arenas since the game launched!

I'd love to hear anything from the official side about this arena that was used 2 years ago and why it has been dismissed. Seemed like a pretty solid thing to me back then.

This was from Quakecon 2014. Everything has changed since then. Also this was simply discussed as a possibility and not that it was for sure coming.

Doesn't change the fact that this arena existed at some point and was never heard of again afaik.
We'll take it as unsubstantiated opinion then.
I'm all in favour of ZOS fixing the PvP issues and adding more PvP content in PvP areas, but not PvPers exaggerating their numbers and importance.
Too funny the one comment on this thread from zos is telling us all to behave, but they totally ignore the question about arena's so there's your answer it aint coming ever!

There isn't really any real good reason not to have some sort of arena combat, as far as I can tell. A lot people say "balance" but I don't really buy that, why would putting an equal amount of players against each other create imbalances? It's almost like ZOS is afraid of the amount of statistical data that could be used from arenas, to help balance the game..
The IC districts are worthless, make them into the small scale everyone wants.
Obviously, after Cyro's lag is fixed...........

No one is exaggerating anything. The majority of people that came into this game in the beginning signed up for large scale pvp.
I'll put the same question to you that I put earlier then. Is that your unsubtantiated opinion or are you able to produce the evidence to support that statement as fact?
You'll doubtless be aware that there was plenty of marketing for the PvE content, that the whole game was based around a single player series in which by definition PvP had no part, and that the original box featured four illustrated descriptions of the focus of the game, only one of which related to PvP.
Again, I'm fine with PvP and agree that a lot of players came into the game for the large scale PvP that was promoted, but let's not get carried away with statements about that being "the majority of people" unless that is qualified as a personal opinion or supported by evidence as fact.
Or are you also going to claim that when you said "the majority of people" you actually meant "the majority of PvPers"? That's where the exaggeration came in earlier, claiming something more than was subsequently conceded to be what was meant.

Again over a 100 million on a marketing campaign that focus's on the pvp aspect. I never seen high budget productions for any of the pve content. Where are the high end cinematics featuring the 3 alliance leaders, the mages guild, fighters guild, or anything in the main quest line. The logo for ESO is the three animal ouroboros that signifies the AvAvA. When this game first launched there was no end game pve content to market only pvp.

Aagain the factions are more than just PVP. This game was never marketed as a pvp focused game. Its elder scrolls everyone knew it would be mainly questing and be casual for the gamers coming from skyrim etc.

the story line and quests in the pve zones have little to do with the war. All the pve content in the Alliance zone deal with internal struggles within the alliance. And again no end game PVE content at release. If the game was really meant for casual players it would have been released F2P with the crown store there right in the beginning along with the vet content seriously nerfed from the get go. The money spent on promoting this game in the game speaks volumes about it's intentions.

They have EVERYTHING to do with the war. Dont you read the quest dialogue? Also a LOT of MMOs do not release with full fledged end game content. Its because people will take some time to level and gear up so they can wait a bit to do it. It wasnt long before craglorn came out for example.

Im talking about the story. The three factions vying for power etc. It isnt 100% about the pvp aspect. I just dont get people. This game was always marketed as a PVE game with PVP in it. Launched with how many zones and only one was PVP enabled. So I just cannot fathom how people thought it was a pvp game like say BDO.

If PvE content was really marketed like you said there would have been high end cinemtics featuring 3 different Alliance Zones. For example a cinematic of the battle fighting the Brothers of Strife, The reachmen invading glenumbra, a battle against the veiled heritence. They did none of that, they chose cyrodil and the imperial city as their back drop. They bragged of massive battle and their mega server and the chance for players to become emp.

It wasnt long before craglorn came out for example.
the war is just a back drop to the pve plot lines. every single main quest could happen without the war
Maybe the same way you think BDO is a PVP game.
I take it you havent played BDO.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H318zfcN7Ho

We'll take it as unsubstantiated opinion then.
I'm all in favour of ZOS fixing the PvP issues and adding more PvP content in PvP areas, but not PvPers exaggerating their numbers and importance.
No one is exaggerating anything. The majority of people that came into this game in the beginning signed up for large scale pvp.
I'll put the same question to you that I put earlier then. Is that your unsubtantiated opinion or are you able to produce the evidence to support that statement as fact?

I sure have.
It has PvP features like ESO does as a prominent part of the game, yet it has a lot more to it than that. It actually is more grinding PvE than PvP. More sandbox fishing and trade routes or what have you.
Reason I am not still playing it is its a little too much PvE grind for me.

Its open pvp anywhere in the world. After a certain level you can be killed by anyone. The main pvp is guild vs guild tho as seen in the video. Other than pvp I dont know what you would do. If you simply want pvp only with no need to level up gear etc probably call of duty or some other first person shooter is what you are looking for. All of these games will have some form of pve needed.
