Would you rather type out, "Veteran White Gold Tower" or "VWGT"?
Would you rather type out, "Woodworking" or "WW" or "Werewolf"?
Oh, wait...

Are you implying that younger (eh?) people were not taught to type things properly..? Not even sure what to answer to thatBesides, many people playing ESO are not exactly teenagers. I'd say it's more about somebody's willingness (or resistance) to adapt :P
Abbreviations have always existed, not only in gaming communities... these forums are not even comparable to the language being used by medical professionals for example -,- And yes, Google is your friend, as well as other forum users who likely won't mind helping out and explaining.
I understand your point about new users not being used to the slang, and that they might need additional effort to understand it, but I don't think it's realistic to ask a whole community to stop using something that distinguishes them as a gaming community. Because this is what this discussion is about, more or less.
Why do people need to use abbreviations in the forums so much? So many new players dont know what they are talking about. It would be good to allow them to learn things by using full words. It took me a long while to figure out what was being said a lot,and even now I still have things that people post which are so abbreviated I cant figure them out.Lol.
Just a thought.
Google is your friend
If you're reading the forums, you're online and can google whatever acronym you come across. Some people in these forums have even made nice "dictionaries" you can bookmark:

It just occurred to me, ZOS could sticky that post in the general comments section for easy reference. What say you, @ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom ?

Not implying anything like that at all.
It was only my feelings on the inside language that those who are new wouldnt understand. I have learned a lot of the abbreviations, but it seems they get harder sometimes.Using just to or three letters for skill or action ingame can be quite frustrating to understand. Like AoE.Area of Effect. If someone doesnt know it,whatever the poster is trying to convey wont mean anything to the person who doesnt know.. I'm not "asking" anything from the whole community.
And,no it isnt about something that "distinguishes" people as gamer. Not more or less.
The need to be distinguished as a gamer by talking in a type of code is silly. Using abbreviations as a way to shorten the time typing I can understand much more than the need for abbreviations as part of an identity.
