Didnt they say, they will come "early" 2017? So for me, yes, i like arenas. Do I want to wait another year to have any pvp improvement? come on zos....
I happen to like both large and small-scale PvP (1v1 is my personal favorite), but at this point I'm in the "we need small-scale PvP NOW" camp.GreenSoup2HoT wrote: »I'd rather a lag free cryodill. Unlike most people, i like siege warfare and everything that come's with it (Guerrilla warfare, etc). I did not buy this game to "duel". I bought it for the huge open world pvp experience i saw in the trailer. Nothing against duelers, it's just kind of boring and limited to meta builds/setups, i'd rather fight open world 1v1's with terrain i can work with.

They think radiant destruction is in a good place and dont see any need to change it. They are working on pvp performance but probably wont see any real improvements until DB. I dont remember anything else.
" Still, we do not under any circumstances need arenas in this game, it ruined pvp in swtor, it ruined pvp in wow and it ruined pvp in many other mmos as well. Arenas are literally a cancer on mmo pvp."
so glad I am not the only one that see this.
how did it kill them? not like people have to play them
Because they divided the player base and then they desperately tried to balance around arenas ruining battlegrounds and open world completely. Then they completely stopped focusing on battlegrounds and open world and people flat out stopped playing pvp because of that, reducing the number of players actually pvping to a whopping 100 give or take a dozen. We do not need that here.

But... The things we do need, we are not getting, not even 2 years after release, I think it could be a refreshing change... I bought this game for the massive open world PvP but it just doesn't work properly so arena and BG MIGHT work.. I'm all for trying it bcos I've more than had enough of lag in PvP

Also arenas were the best. The only thing that stinked was it was only 4v4. They needed 2v2
Also it stinked when you got people that didn't bother to learn their class and cry when they get roflstomped. Then saying only elitest arena. Why should i have the proper equipment or even all equipment i can play how i want.
Long story short, arenas are the best part of any mmo but needs to have 2v2 or 4v4. Or hell for this game 2v2v2 or 4v4v4 would be sweet

So instead of doing something different, they should copy failed models? Not a good idea at all. Playing a gametype in a different game that has failed for 20 years is not refreshing.

I was actually there, and it wasn't the arenas that did it. The problem with SWTOR - from start to finish - has been the corporate stranglehold of EA (which started off true-to-form with a crappy game engine) coupled with a general lack of care.Masstershake wrote: »For people saying arenas were the death of swtor you are wrong. Swtor had thousands of people playing ranked 8 v 8s, then they introduced arenas, and it died. Hard. Went from thousands to hundreds within months. It killed it, no matter how you want to twist it. Not to mention the only people that did ranked were elitst asses that called everyone every name under the sun if they didnt spend their entire life perfecting their class or playing only fotm classes.

Pretty sure hardly anyone wants arenas, that is a tiny tiny tiny tiny tiny percentage of people that are stuck in the 4 v 4 mentality from 1995. Battlegrounds would be fine, but arenas ruined pvp in several games ALREADY, putting them in here would be a dire mistake. Especially when the whole pvp selling point in this game was large scale battles and a fluid battleground.

They cannot do large scale battles and fluid combat. Hell I can't even Run from point A. to point B. in a field in cyrodil without lagging lol... (with no one around me or even within 2 keeps of me)

That could have been a fantastic game, but there's only so much you can do with a skeleton crew.
Which is sad, because I LOVE that game.

I completely agree with you, but these devolpers SURELY musnt be interested enough to fix certain aspects of this game, do I think they will get arenas and BG perfect?? Not In a month of Sunday's .. But, for me, it will be refreshing from an eso stand point to actually play some sort of player Vs player and not always get zerged on or constant lag. By no means do I think ZoS will hit the nail on the head with these new implementations ... But that is their answer fo fixing things, they caouldnt fix azura star lag so they made it NON cp therefore97% of the azura players left, so in the eyes of ZoS they have fixed azura lag ... Same with shield breaker - fixed shield stacking, and I'm curious as the their thought process with BG & arenas, will that be their way of fixing PvP lag?? By splitting the player base? It's comical, really is
@jamesharv2005ub17_ESO Battlegrounds and Arena stuff was announced last year. We talked about it on our We are ESO podcast as much - so yea... its well known news.
As far as development, there has been a lot more details shed on their planning and resourcing on guild meetings with trader/pvp guilds that a section of the community has been involved in. So most of the PVP guilds received that info as well and it trickles down that way.
They basically approved the concept last year and said theyd begin planning and approval for development this year. It doesnt really mean much or tell you anything though honestly. IC was being worked on for a couple years. Murkmire adventure zone was showcased 2 years ago as well at a press conference by a bunch of ZOS devs that dont work there. "Its in production" - great news.
Most people bought ESO for the large scale Cyrodiil siege battles. I would have always loved to see arena implemented as it was seen in Oblivion - nothing crazy but somewhere players could battle. But Cyro is the real gem that appears unfixable. Areans and BGs will likely come so far down the line there wont be many PVP enthusiasts around to embrace it.
There isn't really anything to talk about. The info we have now, is the same as the info we did the first time ZOS mentioned it. Until we get more info on the subject we really don't have much to discuss.
