Jump movement nerfed?

I feel so restricted, like I can't jump over even the smallest thing. Is this a bug or an intended change? how do everyone else feel about it?

Is this like the last big patch where jumping in stealth was suddenly changed? Feels like someone is hitting me in my face when I try to jump foward. I really hope this is a glitch that will get fixed.
Will this ever be addressed anywhere or has it already? It's really bugging me and making some places very difficult if not impossible to get to.

The change to the jumping mechanic has made something as simple as hopping over small bits of level geometry a tedious task. My character often jumps straight up and down now while trying to jump onto a nearby ledge or object, while before I could nudge my character onto it mid-air.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Please take a look at this thread

This actually affects the game more than ZOS might know, I'm not sure how something like this was overlooked. I spend a lot of time jumping onto objects trying to gain a vantage point while thieving. It doesn't only affect that type of gameplay, however, it becomes a problem while exploring and moving through uneven areas.

I know there are more important bugs and issues in the game atm but I really hoped that they would at least talk about it.

I was trying to get to that one Alchemy Survey in Wrothgar last night that is up on a mountain near a waterfall. It took me 10 minutes to get to the place, where before the change, I could even ride my horse to the location. I could not get a jump to work. This is not the only example of this but the new jumping set up is not good for getting anywhere.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I can get used to the change, I just want to know why it was put in place, or even any official response on the subject, in case it was not intended. If that is the case, it needs to be fixed.

Like the new slow camera mouse movement while sprinting with a drawn weapon since some patches.
No one ever talked about this and no one knows if this is intented or a bug. I think its a bug.

Something like jumping up and down requires extensive testing on ZOS's part. You can't expect them to experience the same thing on their server than we do on live. Far too many variables......
  • ArrowTedin_ESO
I actually take back what I said about being able to get used to it. Players should NOT have to battle the technical side of the game to complete an objective as this becomes extremely frustrating and immersion-breaking. Never should any player have to attempt 3-4 times to jump over a small pebble on the ground after fruitlessly hopping in place for several seconds. There have been times I would spend 20+ whole seconds trying to mount a small ledge whereas before it would only take a tap of a movement key in mid-air and the jump would be cleared.
I have no idea how this got past testing, maybe we're the only people who have noticed it, but this need to be fixed, or else stressful moments in the game that require precision movement, such as escaping enemies, will make players feel cheated and infuriated because the game mechanics have failed them in a way that they would not have in past versions of the game.

I wish they would just tell us why, give us a tiny update on the situation.

Sprinting with major expedition on quite often makes you go back to walking speed if you jump, while being airborne. wtf

Yes.. thats it! But if you sprint with drawn weapons the jump works perfectly! If not, you jump like a snail. :3

Any chance we can get an update concerning the broken movement speed introduced in the Thieve's Guild patch? Completely changes the feel of the game in a negative way.

Got the issue that if I fail to jump over an object my sliding animation is super slow, takes like 5-6 seconds until I reach the ground and regain movement.

Amazing! Thank you ZOS for addressing the issue! I'm excited to play with the physics as they were.

The bug is now fixed and by the gods, jumping feels so right! Thank you again!

So I guess the new patch did something to jumping but the forward momentum from standing still is still not the same.. can't do the jumps I used to do, climb the fun places I used to climb to. It feels sad after 2 years of having fun climbing things its over I guess.
  • ArrowTedin_ESO
It seems you can now hold the movement keys while jumping, and if a wall is detected in front of you, you will get an extra boost to jump over the object. It's a good system, but it's different than what we had before.

The extra boost should always be present, even if you stand still without an obstacle in front of you.

I've been seeing threads about jumping being fixed, but I'm still over here with the pre-patch hot garbage jump mechanics.

The floaty fall on terrain, the leaving sprint when jumping, the being unable to clear a rock that's knee-high. All of it is here to stay. :)

Did they forget to actually include the fix in the patch or something? It's not like this was a huge undertaking like the experience cake understandably was, so this is generally unacceptable.

'Okay, the question is...(laughter)...the question is, we have Vicious Death sets with Prox Det that are doing double damage from last patch -- they're doing double damage -- and the CP system scales them even more. Prox Dets are doing over 20k, okay? That's before Vicious Death does 15, m'kay? We're talking like 30k+. Okay.
"So, what about the stamina?" Okay. Um "The 2-handed execute skill--" I'm s--I'm sorry. What? The 2-Handed execute? What?! What am I gonna f***ing do?! Am I gonna execute a f***ing zerg with a 2-Handed slice?!'

This just happened to me in IC last night. It didn't take me too long, but I realized there was a small rock at my feet blocking the way (by proportion it was maybe 6inches high, tops). I would actually like it if there were an animation for clambering over objects like crates, and I would love it if they could take it so far as to add a climbing skill (complete with grappling hook and the rest).

Yes, I'm envious of Quen for sure. Maybe they have some intention of actually adding Acrobatics as a skill line to the game for the dark brotherhood patch? If that is the case it might make some sense.

I see a big difference in jumping now than before last patch. Like they annouced the jumping system was improved, when it comes to jumping near low walls, fences, rocks etc. Thanks for that :).
