I lost two thousand crowns by upgrading my mount on one charater. Yeah I do wish they would allow you to be able to feed your mount four times a day. Horses and other animals need to be fed just like humans!
If I can afford both and want both why wouldn't I buy both? As it happens, I rarely use my mounts so they are still as slow as Christmas, faint like a goat and barely carry me much less any extra stuff but me and my tiger get along just fine anyway. I am on the fence about TG. I might consider buying it but I won't subscribe since I'm not interested in the other DLC, at least right now.
You choose what to buy man. No one forces you. So if you want mount upgrades? Cool, just be prepared to buy crowns for TG. If not, then your good.
It's simply marketing. Eso is a company that needs to make money in order to continue this game. I myself enjoy the game, so I'm all for them making money.
I'm for "No" and "I'm ESO+". I'm also on PC. As for the answer, I wouldn't pay for the crowns to get it. I didn't for the Imperial City DLC either.
Yet I got ESO+, mainly thinking ZoS would use it to help improve the game. But I know damn well they pocket it, every time. :P
--Char info updated as of March 23rd, 2016 - PC NA--
Benie - VR1 Argonian Stam DragonKnight (2H Sword/Bow/WW)
Beniee - VR3 Nord Mag Sorcerer (Destruction Staff)
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
You want to get your horse training done as fast as possible? Then pay for it.
Not sure if you knew, but you can also do the horse training for free, it takes longer, but it doesn't cost you a penny. No one is squeezing money out of you.
We had times in ESO where we had to feed every horse singlewise, for every single character. At that time, we even had to buy the horses we wanted for every single character. Now imagine how long that took and how much effort you had to put in the game in order to get what you want. But we could get it done.
Not sure where the problem is; must be the today's teens which want to get everything handed out for free and this as fast as possible.
Wait - so you're saying by them offering you a discount they are trying to steal your crowns?
Have some self control man! If you can't afford things, don't buy them. Can't blame a shop for offering things to sell then when you buy the thing you say you got robbed
Honestly... you do know that you do not need crowns to progress your riding skills? You can get riding lessons every day at the stable master of your choosing, for a small amount of gold (ofc).
Soooo, if you want everything now you should be prepared to pay for everything ... now.
