Rubedo Leather drop rates

Is there a reason that Rubedo scraps are so hard to come by in Hew's Bane? There are nodes for Ancestor Silk, Rubedite ore and Ruby Ash all over the place yielding materials 100% of the time (sometimes 3 or 4 pieces); the creatures that drop Rubedo scraps are much less frequent and I'm only getting drop rates of about 40% when killed (and then usually just a single piece). The difficulty of accumulating Rubedo Leather is reflected in it's high price in Guild Stores.

I've got Ancestor Silk, Rubedite Ingots and Ruby Ash coming out of my ears but as a full Medium Armour wearer it's going to take an age to collect enough leather for a full set. I'm also smarting as a piece just failed an 87% chance of improvement to legendary losing the materials, Nirncrux and Dreugh Wax :-(

Yeah, never try improving V16s on anything less than 100%.

Also, yeah, this is annoying. I've got enough mats to make full V16 gear in anything but leather... and of course, I have a lot of characters in medium armor. The lack of a leather survey really adds up over time.

I won't make that mistake again; it's too costly! Oh well, it's a lesson.

I'm just finding it so dull farming the scraps; if creatures dropped 100% of the time like other nodes it'd help but I'm often taking out 2 or 3 with no results; the competition for the MOBS is pretty tough too.

You need to kill animals for leather because there are no nodes. Kill more animals. Especially livestock that can't fight back.

I've had drops from all sorts of easy kills, especially in Wrothgar. I kill every critter when running through there.

I do find the delay in leaving combat so you can loot annoying though when killing defenseless critters.

Seems most aggressive animals in Orsinium drop it. Like all the time. Head into the harpy cave North East of the city, kill as many of those damn harpies as you can.

Why is it that all the other V16 mats are readily available in Cyrodiil; however, instead of Rubedo Leather I get only Shadowhide?

If you have access to IC DLC, farm tel var stones and buy the material for that.

It seems to me that rubedo is dropping quite frequently now. Do you have clothing maxed?

I'm going to concur with the "Wrothgar is good hunting" crowd. Besides having a larger area to hunt in (for general purpose hunting), it has a couple of decent places to hunt (Werewolves can also be skinned for rubedo leather, and the other mobs in the dungeon frequently wear rubedo leather armor).

That said, leather seems to have always been the tough material to get, since you have to actively farm mobs for it, and it does not benefit from the Champion Point system (10% chance to double gathering nodes -- but mobs do not count as a gathering node). My sister exclusively wore medium armor, and I've had to give her some of my supplies so she could upgrade her gear.

Sometimes the hunting/gathering aspect can be a little cathartic, though. I'll run around some zones just material gathering, for lack of anything better to do, on those days I don't feel like fishing.

If you want rubedo leather may I suggest going to ic and farming stones. It's 50 stones per mat. You can gather what you need very quickly farming there.

I have 1200 rubedo leather in my bank. No one even buys it on Xbox eu anymore.

Monsters in scaled zones such as Cyrodiil, Wrothgar, and Hew’s Bane will no longer drop a mixture of Rubedo Leather and Shadowhide if you have Rank 10 of the Tailoring passive. Instead, they will exclusively drop Rubedo Leather.

I'm getting exclusively Rubedo Leather dropped inHew's Bane when I get anything dropped at all (about 40% of the time) but usually just in ones or twos. The drop rates seem very poor compared to other resource nodes which yield materials 100% of the time and in larger numbers making it much more of a chore to collect.

I just grind gold and then buy it off traders. Do some exploring, it goes for about 37k a stack and by going through all guild trades I averaged probably 25-30k a stack

I learned that lesson 2 years ago... but that was like lvl 20 gear (was trying to make it blue).

If it's not 100% it's 0.

It's bugged in Cyrodiil my main is Max in all crafting and he still gets Shadowhide I got the other mats and VR15 enchants from NPC drops and nodes.

Now that's finally fixed, you farm Rubed o Leather in Wrothgar and Ancestor Silk in Hew's Bane. They can be found in both places of course, but each one are available in larger amounts in different places

Am I the only person who only finds rawhide scraps and jute when running in Wrothgar and Hew's Bane? I want to find out if it's a common bug or if it's just me before I /bug it.

Your crafting passives aren't high enough, the nodes scale to your passives.
