Well then get ready to be happy! The Thieves Guild update came with unrestricted cross-alliances grouping for dungeons. No more needing to game the group finder queue to hopefully get grouped with the cross-alliance people you wanted to group with: now you can just invite them directly to group. That's the change in TG I've been the most excited about, and I've used it a bunch of times since the update.Orion_Sixx wrote: »I would just be happy if they did away with not allowing cross alliances or change it to allow friends list que, atleast then we can run with friends easier.

For your first random dungeon of the day at VR16 it's just over 100K XP (might be less if you're not an ESO+ member), a random set piece, a few soul gems, and a rare crafting style material. On your second random dungeon it's about 30K XP, and similar but somewhat less good items as rewards. I can't remember if the set piece is VR15 instead of VR16 on your second one, or if it's blue instead of purple.NateAssassin wrote: »What's the reward for finishing the dungeon?

I haven't had many issues with the group finder except, if I'm feeling lazy one night and don't want to tank or heal, and just want to dps, I never get into a dungeon. I have been que for over an hour more then once. If I leave and switch to tank or healer I get into a group instantly.

And all the people who select those roles despite the fact they're DPS love it too lol

That is the worst. People selecting all 3 roles - then ends up doing none ;D

Not necessarily. A guildie of mine does all 3 outstandingly, carries stuff for all three roles in his inventory, and can do any of the three roles even in vICP or vWGT. Requires a talented player, but they do exist. He has a templar - it's the most versatile class.

I'm not talking about those who actually CAN - but there are a lot of players who put themselves as tank/healer just to get a group faster, without knowing how to do any of them.

Sure, but I mentioned it because there are preconceived false ideas about that, and if he says openly "I can take whatever role you want", let alone signing up for all three roles in the grouping tool - because he will probably get kicked. Even though, in his case, it's true, he can do anything - and very well.
My sorc also heals very well (apart from vCOA, vICP and vWGT). But I don't even mention it, even if groups are waiting for a healer. I don't want to deal with this crappy argument anymore "but you're no templar"... I just DPS, problem solved for me (but not for them).

I was encouraged to "give it a try" by a friend and I have to admit, I have enjoyed pugging tremendously.
That's not to say I haven't had my WTF moments, as many of my viewers can attest to (fortunately, they make for good twitch streams lol).
My biggest issue is with people not admitting to not knowing the encounter. I have zero issue running with new/inexperienced players, in fact I love explaining encounters and watching the group develop and improve... but I feel that many people are scared to admit that they have no idea what they're doing.
This is one of our failures as a community at large. The dungeon finder is now a wonderful way for new players to experience content. If we as seasoned veterans queue for the dungeon finder, we need to accept the overwhelming chances that our fellow group members are not on par with our dedicated groups. This doesn't mean they're all super casual "my character fights with his fists because he's a monk" players, in fact, many are openly receptive to advice and strategies.
TLDR: Endgame players that queue for group dungeons need to be willing to lead with a soft hand. New players shouldn't have to be scared to admit that they don't know the encounters.
There needs to be a way of helping educate players about how to build their characters and how to play their role effectively.

I've largely avoided doing group content because I've only run maybe two of the original group dungeons (and that was before level scaling; I just bulldozed through with a vet character to get them off my map).
I'd like to complete them, but because I have no idea what I'm doing I mostly just steer clear.
Thank you for not hating us XD
