Especially the materials take a lot of space and keeping the reseachable gear on account makes the total of 440 slots just filled up quick. Logically over time the reseachable gear gets less, yet with the new materials/potions/styles available with the released DLC's it just seems a constant struggle to manage materials over other accounts that become mules that simply are no longer able to quest anymore with the few free slots left.
In my bank I stack up to 180 per material so I would be able to deposit a little when in need, yet 240 slots is way to little to store one of each material available, so swapping out raw materials, recipes, gear, repair kits, styles etc. between characters becomes a real time consuming struggle that is more of a log off/log in game than quality gaming.
On quests I often run out of space before I finished one, and stop halfway a dungeon to go back to the bank does not improve my game experience much. So this results in destroying good materials that need to go to make place for something I think I can use better, but the hoarder in me feels the pain.
Now, if I can summon a vendor or money lender it would help a little, which I understand will be available for Crowns in a few weeks, but still I would struggle with the amount of storage available. I feel that when I would have 300 slots available in my personal bank I would be able to breathe again and if I would run out of those it might be that I just stock to much materials that I better use to complete crafting writs or offer in a guildstore....
The major problem is that the bank is shared, so even if you have multiple characters, crafting becomes a mess, and certain crafting professions take a lot of bank space, such as enchanting and alchemy. I have a mule just for enchanting runes, and I've filled 50 slots in that character's inventory just on runes, as well as having 20+ runes in the bank. It's not about hording, you have to "store" runes up because you essentially need 3 components to make a glyph, and if you're short of 1 - per example aspect runes - it's a waste throwing away the other 2 just because you're missing 1.
It's a bad design choice from Zenimax to have a shared bank, and have the crafting need so many materials. It's not about choice, because if you want to level an alt, you have to juggle the bank space with the alts you have.
With the amount of crafting materials in the game, they should have just done as Guild wars 2 did, and have its own crafting bank that's shared for all characters, then they could lower the amount of bank space you need (since 80% of the bank is filled with crafting materials anyway) and kept it shared for all characters. I think the design choice in the bank system has been way too rigid, and it's been a problem ever since the game was released, heck, even in Beta the bank space was reported as an issue, yet the stubborn developer insisted on "choice".
@Luvtantius_Micocia .
As you say:
" I feel that when I would have 300 slots available in my personal bank I would be able to breathe again..... "
Increasing the bank to 300 would give us breating space again.
I would gladly settle with a temporary increase of that 60 and have it removed again (in a prudent way) when the planned upgrade with the crafter bag comes.

Not trying to be a [snip], but it's true.

I do not know what to imagine with these "crafter bags", will that be another tab in the bank or in personal inventory? Or perhaps both? Will all materials automatically end up in there without a limit? It would make me cry if it tells me I cannot have more materials when a limit is reached there. And in what time is this upgrade expected? I would love to learn more about this planned feature ....
