MattFiror: No, it’s not a good idea to make everyone respec their entire character whenever a DLC is released. Until we have the ability to respec just one skill line at a time, we won’t be doing any more forced respecs. We do have plans for this, and we’ll get it in as soon as we can.
They should at least do optional ones..
I can think of few more pointless polls, asking people if they would like a free respec is like asking them if they wish they'd been the $1m winner, or asking turkeys if they'd like Christmas to be cancelled.
An optional respec would be fine, but I'm not in favour of forced respecs on logging in especially with a major event like a DLC which is likely to attract a lot of former players back who won't have seen the advance warning and will be immediately put off by the need to rebuild a character they haven't played for a while. It's also a complete pain for we altoholics!

I don't think it's pointless since they have given us optional respecs before.

I meant it's pointless in that everyone is going to say "yes". There are already countless other threads on which people can post their opinions, with no real additional benefit in running a one-sided poll with a guaranteed outcome.

While I am unable to reimburse you the gold for redistributing your skills and points, I want to make sure you're aware you can purchase scrolls for skill and attribute respecification in the Crown Store.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.

heck no, as an altoholic myself (and I play two accounts - yes I have it bad - I love free respecs. I don't try to do all my characters skills at once, just slowly build back and then I note 'oh, never did add in such and so skill' so it ends up being very organic pleasant thing.
I'd prefer Undaunted Vendor Monday through Tuesday instead.

Yet you still voted

They spend time downloading some big huge patch, instead of playing the game, then they log in and have to reassign points, instead of playing the game. People caught unaware may not remember what they had points in. They did not take screen captures or prepare in any way. They are forced to deal with it, even if they could have played for a couple of hours and put off dealing with the changes until later.
It is quite possible that a very large number of currently active players fit into this demographic.
Until ZOS can implement a method where the players can respec on their own terms, they should stay away from the forced respec.
Fortunately, they have indicated that they are working on this.
The solution is simple. The complaining happened from the "Forced" respec when you logged in and had all your points given back to you. So they stopped doing that. The solution to satisfy both parties, simply make respec's at the respec shrine cost 1 gold for a duration of 1 week after a major patch update. Then no more complaining from the complainers and it gives people the opportunity to test out and try the changes in skills.
