Being Hidden when you are going to steal something but...

Being Hidden when you are going to steal something but when you press E to steal it it makes you revealed.

It's REALLY annoying. You see a Safebox, you are hidden next to it, you check around, you decide to go for it as soon as you press E Revealed, Bounty.

Basically ESO is just giving you the middle finger. 'Oh, you think you are hidden when grabbing this 'Legendary Item Thief Item' well too bad, we're gonna reveal you as soon a you try to steal it.

Have auto loot off. That way you can make sure your not revealed before taking it. Additionally you can see its value first to avoid taking junk.

Yeah it happens often I swear there's like a 1% chance to get detected for no reason when there's nobody around and your fully hidden.

I don't have Autoloot on. If you are detected attempting to interact with a Safebox, instant bounty, if you are detected when trying to grab the New Legendary Artifacts, instant bounty.

    Yeah, many interactions "reveal" you.

The quotation marks are because sometimes they seem to reveal you, but they don't. Like, the eye opens completely, but you don't get a bounty. Other times, they do actually reveal you and you do get a bounty.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I've found that i'm perfectly hidden, then as I hit 'E' my character stands up and then the 'detected' eye appears. However, more often than not, i'm still perfectly hidden even when I loot the stolen items. My assumption is that this is a bug. But judging by the OP this may or may not be related.

I fail 100% pick pocket at easy targets and one time when i stole from one guy, he turns around and i got both the stolen item and a bounty and that npc is alone so noone else could have reported me...

I even get bounties when I'm still hidden, ever since the Justice System came out. Or detected when no one is around (imagine it like "hidden - detected - hidden - detected - hidden - detected" - and so on, for about a minute until I have enough). I don't think they'll ever fix this, or aren't able to for some reason.

The eye opens always and it says "detected" whenever your interact with an item in sneak. This is misleading, as you might not be detected at all and there might not be anybody even be near to you. This is for harvesting nodes and opening chest and thief troves just the same.

Yeah it's very misleading! I'm sure that before the patch, this was not an issue. Something i'd have remembered for sure!

Well it was that way for harvesting nodes, I do not remember if it was as well the case with other items.

Always been the case. Hit sneak and interact immediately after and you'll go into sneak whilst lock picking for instance and not cone out of it. Strange, it doesn't seem to affect breaking into houses though. Anything else reveals you.

This is currently one of the best workarounds. Also make sure you're as close as possible to the object so you don't do the auto step forward thing when you loot it which can often inadvertently blow your cover for a split second. You can also craft some invisibility potions.

In a house with 1 npc I've had 100% pick pocket chance with hidden eye status. Press E to pickpocket,

The *** turns around and starts attacking me

It seems like trove boxes are being treated like resource nodes, not containers.

When you sneak and gather a plant, you get revealed. When you sneak and open a crate, you don't.

This happened to me as well, was getting a trove underneath a dock, was right next to it crouched, completely hidden. But the minute I clicked E on it, stood up and was spotted and got a bounty for touching it, and then a 2nd bounty for taking what was inside.

They need to be fixed to not stand up upon using them the way nodes do.

They are indeed. Which is also why they respawn faster than treasure chests and why they are always in the same location.

Treasure chests also have fixed locations but more spawn points than actual chests which means you won't always find a chest in any of the possible locations, RNG dictates which chest "node" actually gets a chest.

For the Thieves Troves, they work just like normal resource nodes, always in the same spot and on a fairly short respawn timer.
