missing textures in 64 bit patch

I was going to start a thread, but just adding that loading ESO64 resulted in much of the same as people are reporting. I'm also getting very odd noise happening. During the Thieves' Guild introduction quest with Quen in Eastmarch (EP), I was getting heavy static sounds, splashing sounds, and odd talking (like Gollum). I basically had to play muted until I made it to Abah's Landing.

This has been an issue on console since the launch of Orsinium and there have been multiple posts about it. It's not just the pink textures, but the kicks to homescreen.

I find it extremely frustrating that within a day you all have responded to the PC users yet have not said one damn word in the multiple posts reporting this problem on console. What are you going to do about it on all platforms? This is a known bug, frustrating AF and your lack of communication is enough to rampage about.

I have also experienced a lot of random audio glitches. Like a cat stuck in a wall meowing on loop, or very loud random explosions of sound that last for a second and go away.

Just another update. The random noises aren't just linked to the DLC. They are very consistent though. I hear the static and splashing a lot near water. Voices seem to be area dependent. To me, this is more jarring than the pink.

Preach on brother. Happens all the time in Orsinium along with all the disconnects and getting dashboarded.

Not to mention the "television static" noise that sometimes plays, which is deafening at 50% master volume.. That alone was the main reason why I went back to 32bit. The stupid textures I can handle, they are more funny than bothersome, but constantly having my eardrums torn apart is not great.

This was also the problem before, on 32bit, especially on a DC side. Happened in 1 out of 5.

Can confirm. DC area bug especially in one particular keep in cyro and certain PVE regions.

Pink (no) textures on small wildlife (foxes, horkers, mudcrabs etc) are a common occurrence in Wrothgar the past 3 days on the 64 bit client. I have seen some plants and buildings that were pink as well but they are not as common for me as the critters. I've not seen any nude folks or invisible faces etc... just the pink problem and random audio bugs as well. The 32 bit client has been fine so far.

I have to admit I'm finding this far more amusing than I probably should. I know it's a pretty serious bug and needs to be fixed, but I think if I saw some of these myself I'd be unable to play for laughing. I'm actually tempted to get the 64 bit client just for that reason.

But can anyone tell me why so many things turn pink when they're bugged? When I made a thread about it (I was told to repost here instead) it was suggested that it's because it's the base texture, or that it's what your graphics card uses when it can't find the texture, but I would have thought that would make it show up when things were still loading too.

I don't think it's the graphics card that renders the hot pink. Otherwise all games would have the same hot pink texture with a missing texture and they don't.

So it is ESO that is rendering that missing texture file. The reason it is hot pink is so that it stands out and developers can see it quickly and clearly.

I have had some other games render question marks, others still will render exclamation points. In fact I think ESO will render little boxes with exclamation points (like a Mario Bros. cube) with missing objects.

    Some info for the devs:

Last night I selected a character at the character selection screen, had lots of pink textures behind him while in the selection screen. Once he loaded, there were lots of pink textures in the world around him. I was just logging him on to get his hireling emails, so I logged out back to the selection screen. The scene behind him was no longer pink. I loaded another character, this character had no pink anywhere around them. I went back to load the prior character to see if the pink had gone away. There were still pink textures, but now they were in different places. Textures that had not loaded before were now fine and other textures were missing.

So it is not that textures are missing, it would appear that the pointers to them are being corrupted.

This is likely what is happening with the audio as well.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've had audio issues where the audio ques up a totally unrelated sound, like a critter's death sound instead of a the sound for refining materials. It doesn't seem to have any regularity as to which sounds or textures are corrupted, either.

I got the pink textures when my ESO64 client crashed and booted me into the login screen.
The only remedy I had for this is restarting the client and all is good once more (until the next crash).

However, today, I crashed but didnt get the pink textures after logging back in. You would already see the pink textures even on the character selection screen.

It's not that the textures are missing (as in, not present in the game's files), they just are sometimes not displayed correctly.

    Last time i tried:
1, Logged into game, character was in Azura. Pink walls all around.
2, Queued for Trueflame. After character loaded, walls were not pink(same spot)
3, Queued back to Azura, character loaded, same spot, everything was OK (no pink)

I agree with whoever said it was pointer corruption.

I was in a dungeon last night and some of the containers said drink, but were chests or other non-drink objects. When I hit E to open, it took them and they vanished off screen like I had taken an object (food/drink/weap/armor).

Good night everyone. 06.03 in the morning marchthe 13th.... i made an ingame ticket 4 days ago. Due to a fresh reinstall of my pc werent able to play until today... everything seems fine on 64 bit client.. at least no big lag spikes anymore.

However still some tetures are turning purple.. it are especially typical npc.s or mounts that have it happen to them.
The fiery warhorse is one of the mounts that seems affected the most in my case, wether someone ingame riding it or when looking it up through thecrown store, though it is occasionally and after restarting the 64 bit client everything seems to run normal for a while again.. Certain zones are affected more then others.. come to mind especially newer zones from DLC contents seem to have more purple (rain)....

I doubt this is something ZOS related only.... and probbly them devs try to fi things... maybe the underlying problem has o do with nvidia and amd,s api and drivers on top of it..

At least fro what i know the day 64 BIT eso was released... NVIDIA also reesed the 364.51 driver.. which includes the new Vulan API SDK pltform whatever... Already official nvidia forums are reporting numerous bugs since the same day.. you can findit through google probably.. In my case i run 780 gx in SLI. and after installing the 364 driver everytme i would enable sli i get a bsod and reboot. In other cases people were affected with multiple monitor support.. or by starting up heavy directx 11.2 <12> games. 6 months ago NVIDIA also released 4 drivers in row that were very unstable and i reported purple green or red texture like problems with black bars stars or stripes across them.. it happened to me in the game called the evil within. and some other i dont remember at this moment exactly.

i suggest ZOS should make contact to NVIDIA or even AMD whatever maybe it will speed up a solution... it may as well be some kind of interference between the new Vulkan and Direct 12 somewhere in the coding of the drivers alog with code devs used in some typical kind of game engines..

Its just a thought.. i have no feedback or facts to rely it on.. since im not experienced alot into the exact driver directx coding stuff..

But it seems too obvious to me this has happened before 6 months in some games at that moment with the release of i believe HDR upscaling drivers... and now at the same time they released a Vulkan download with new graphic card drivers..

    P.S.
In case you installed 364.51 as NVIDIA user... it probably is best at this moment to uninstall them and revert back to 362.00 theres more problems to the new driver then meet the eye msi afterburner GPU z show weird fluctuations in my VCCIN voltage that do not appear with previous 362. the weird thing is 362 or previous driver barely fixed a problem with NVidia cards especially 7xx and 9xx series from a problem of the card using more energy then needed while computers are in off or standbye mode.its really absurd how many driver issues weve been having last year and im pretty sure this purplish has something to do with more then a bug inside ESO. i bet they will release and updated version pretty soon anyway.
