well the game doesn't have that many gold sinks anyway so it's not THAT bad. yes it's a shame and i would like a free respec aswell but people having 8 vet 16 toons and have to pay 136k you earned a *** ton of gold aswell. see it in perspective....
even i with 3 v 16 and a v 4 have over a mil

It was reconsidered, and it is now 50% less per point than it used to be.

Wow... I'm a console player and with the amount of changes coming to skills I was certain they'd give a free reset. That's pretty messed up, ZOS.

Yeah, I also wish they had included some kind of free or cheap respec option, especially since there was so much vitriol on the Templar changes that basically require a respec (or at least remorph) to get re-oriented.

But people had to go and complain about the surprise freebie last time, because they couldn't be bothered to understand their skill choices enough to know what to pick back up. So I get to spend thousands of gold on that when I should be saving my coin for other, more useful things.

Hey, if we complain enough about there NOT being a free forced respec, does that mean we can have one and effectively smack the earlier complainers in the gob for ruining it for folk? ;P (Yeah, yeah, I know the answer to that is unlikely, but we Templars need some kind of vindication from somewhere...)

At least Templars don't need a respec as there are barely any changes.

I don't believe a respec is needed after this update. None of the resources pools for morphs has changed, no new skills. A morph respec is much cheaper anyway.

Uhh you need to change some passives when battle res stacks, dk skills are tweaked so some skills are now viable.. Etc..

Before it was a Mandatory Respec. When you logged-in your skills were reset. There was no "keep it for later". JSYK. That's why they QQ'd and we have to live with it.

I don't understand this comment. Why would someone complain about a free respec? If it's too complicated, they just have to not use it and keep it for later.

Alright, let me explain this again so everyone can understand what happened. First, ESO released on consoles June 9th and on September 15/16th (3 months later) console players got a forced respec with the IC patch without any information from ZOS in-game that this would happen. As a result, many players were upset since they had no warning about the forced respec as ZOS provided zero informtion about it in-game. The only information that was provided was a link to the IC advertisement page, not to the forums and if did not include any information about the patch notes or warn players that a forced respec occurs with every major update. Please note that as this was the first major update that console had received, many players were simply unaware of how the forced respec worked and would gladly have written down their skills prior to the update had ZOS informed them about it.

So the issue was that ZOS did not properly communicate in-game with the console players (is anyone really surprised by this?) and that the skill respec was forced instead of being optional so any possible fix should have addressed these two problems. Instead, in typical ZOS fashion they applied a bandaid fix that does not properly solve either issue (they did not communicate that a free respec would not be included with TG, nor did they make the respec optional) and instead just removed the respec entirely. What's worse is that they could have also simply reduced or capped the skill/attribute respec costs so that they were extremely cheap for a limited amount of time, or would never cost more than say 3-5k similar to how CP work. Heck, they could have even given players a respec scroll that expired after so many days. Again, there are several alternative solutions that would have fulfilled the need of an optional skill respec and ZOS did not provide any of them. Then to make matters worse they communicated none of this to the players even after the lack of communication caused the original problem (see a pattern here?).

In summary, is anyone really surprised by ZOS' (in)actions at this point? They honestly are incapable of communicating in a meaningful manner with their player base and their solutions rarely benefit the players or actually solve the real problem(s). As such, while I never personally saw an issue with a forced respec I cannot fault the players that did find a problem with them as it was first and foremost a lack of communication issue by ZOS. The fact that the respec was not made optional simply demonstrates how ZOS continues to use half-measures instead of trying to solve the real issue. Do they even play their own game? At this point I doubt it.
