I have just created a new char and wanted to try Templar.... having read all the negative aspects of this class I wanted to know - would it be more a help or a hinderance to be a vamp?

    I think it would help more. Clouding Swarm and elusive mist give much needed utility and mobility that the class sorely lacks. It also give you resource management since you get 15% more stamina and magicka recovery. Another thing Templars lack.

    Its a must have for a solo magicka Templar in open world pvp. Mist, stealth speed, heal swarm, low hp damage reduction are too good to pass on.

    But, you don't need those if you run with a group.

    Why not pve? I don't have all the machanics down like you guys, and I've never been a Templar or a Vamp before?
    Swarm and mist are immensely helpful in pvp, but in pve the only thing really useful is the regeneration from slotting an ability and that is overshadowed by the 25% extra fire damage.

    You can go vamp in pve aswell, but you won't get anything (only the dmg reduction when low-HP....but you can heal yourself) from it.

    You get:
    Ultimate (weaker then Shooting star/ice comet)-->not on your bar
    First skill--->lol
    elusive mist-->not on your bar
    -->no extra regen (if you need more regen maybe slot repentance or support abilities from alliance war)

    You also get more incoming firedmg...You don't want this on some encounters.
    But anyways, if you want to go vamp, you can do it. I even tanked vCoA as a V1-Vamp-Tank (pre IC-Update...so no scaling).

    I cured mine.

    Mist will be slower than sprinting next patch.

    Everyone has 9% mire weapon and spell damage against you.

    Dawnbreaker.

    Bats is good and the regen. It's not worth the constant extra damage though for me.

    If you choose Dunmer, and put CP into the elemental dmg reduction you should be fine in PVE, except for the most difficult trials/dungeon encounters where fire is involved, then it'll take a ton of skill and some luck to conquer that content.

    Im a Dunmer, Vamp, Templar and have been since launch (added Vampirism for PVP, but hasn't really hurt me in PVE too much)

    Vamp is great for pve, if you plan to grind a lot, because the ultimate gain is fun and regen is good.
    For group play it is very bad, and groups will not trust you.
    For pvp vampire is good, because it provides invisibility via ultimate or skill, however get into a fight with a player with fighters guild skills slotted, then you are probably doomed.

    It is possible to do all content as a vampire, but you will struggle more.

    Elusive mist would be a waste of a skill since Eric Wrobel designed the Templar to be immobile inside their house.

    • Fire is the standard damage in pretty much all dungeons, and you will take extra damage from fire if you are a vampire.
    • Vampire invisibiilty is good for pvp is useless in pve dungeons.
    • The ultimate is weak and a dps loss.
    • The extra regen is a positive bonus but not needed.
    • The extra ultmate gain from Invigorating Drain is nice, but a complete and utter dps loss in mobs and bossfights. It will not CC bosses, and if you are surrounded with mobs - better to use AoE skills than go hit 1 target with 1 spell that lasts 3 seconds and heals you for 10% of your health - meanwhile the 5-6 other mobs are hitting your group.
    • Unless you have a high health pool, you will be one shot by some boss attacks.
    • You will be one shot through Dragonstar Arena by mobs, because they use silver bolts and other fighters guild ablities.
    If you have good friends, that you can do dungeons with and they trust you and you are good at staying out of danger zones - then you can play as a vamp and be happy.

    If you don't have good friends, that you can do dungeons with - and must rely on strangers and pugs for the time being, vamp is a bad idea. You will have unpleasant experiences, because people will judge you as a liability to their team.

    don´t be a vamp in pvp unless you are heavily using shields or are a stam NB wich neither templars are.
