What is the point of motifs?

Unless you have a build that encourages you to wear all of one armor weight, you are making it harder for yourself if you want a consistent design. Even if you make all armor of the same motif you still won't look good since different weights have a different look and feel. A lot of the coveted armor comes form RNG where you have no style control, so you are stuck with a clownsuit.

If you could reforge armor in a different style they would be effective, but as of now i'd rather have a costume

While it's true that the "coveted" armor is subject to RNG, I personally don't go for Monster Sets or anything like that. Pretty much any Set item/gear/weapon that I get in Loot or from a monster kill, I will never wear or utilize.

I personally craft all of my gear that my characters wear, so the Motifs very important for getting each character to look exactly how I want them to look.

That's the importance of Motifs for me personally.

Yeah honestly, as a master crafter, half the fun is discovering the unique looks you can build, especially with different weighted armors. If you don't have a ton of Motifs, then your options are dismal at best.

I used 5 Heavy 3 Light for a long time as a healer in PVP and it looked pretty bad ass, Im now wearing 6 Light 2 Heavy and it looks just as good to me, not clownish at all.

google Esofashion I believe, theirs a great website that shows most of the armor and weapons in different weights and styles, and what the changes are throughout the Levels from 1 to V16.

It wouldn't hurt to let us choose which Levels Style we wanted our armor in though, If I crafted V16 Ancestor Silk Robes, I should be able to choose what levels style I want, up to the current level Im able to craft in.

I wanted all of the motifs, and have found only 10 ever looking for them. 5 of them I already had! The rest I slowly bought from guild traders as the prices came down. Still missing a few however. Eventually I will have them all. I still use only 3 of my motifs, Nord for my sword and all but my head piece. Which is a Daderic Light Hood. And a wood elf bow. Because wood elf's are bad ass little archers! I just like being able to craft everything. And the hood is something my Elder Scrolls characters have always worn. Kind of fits my ranger/hunter look that I like. And I to prefer to craft and not run dungeons for sets.
