Do you think ESO on PC should have a gear examine function?

Well, if it's the case that they can't reshuffle resources in this manner, then there's plenty of other systems they could work on that would do much more for this game than a completely superfluous gear inspector.

A whole minute?!? And you were forced to actually interact with someone and welcome them to the game?!? That's awful! If only there was an automated tool that would let you skip right past giving a new player a friendly welcome! ;)

It doesn't matter whether you add a Gear Inspection or not when you get kicked from a vet dungeon before it even starts because you're a VR9 tank and everyone else is VR16 (as happened last night).

Haters gonna hate and elitists will just use a gear check as one more indicator that you don't "deserve" to run with them.

Incidentally, I re-queued and joined another group of VR16's and we ripped the dungeon in half in record time with no deaths. So I hope that that first group spent the time I was actually running the dungeon trying to find a "better" tank. B)
I could be remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've run a dungeon with you tanking before... If my memory is correct, I will attest that you are perfectly capable of tanking a VR16-scaled vet dungeon with no issues B)

I don't care if it's ever implemented. It's not a game breaker for me. Most of the replies against it indicate a fear of being left out or harrassed.

Here's a quote from your vocal advocate though:

ESO sold millions of copies. Let's just say 1,000,000 people bought the game. It's more, but whatever.

so your .004% of the playerbase gives you an accurate sample size of data?

If there werent so many toxic people in MMOs then it would be ok. I have carried plenty of below average players in dungeons/raids many of times through the years but i have have never ever kicked somebody or been rude to somebody just cause they lack knowledge of the game or skill. Or do the typical L2P comment which shows lack of intelligence and extremely immature. If it was used for the reasons to help and see what cool looking gear people are wearing then its ok. The problem is that there are too many toxic players that will be rude over something as meaningless as a video game.

It's not a fear of being left out - it's a (perfectly rational) fear of being pushed out because your gear doesn't match the current meta.

Just because my build and gear choices can't be found on some fanwank build site doesn't mean that it's a bad build - But it does mean that I'm more likely to be kicked by someone that thinks they know my build better than I do. And no, I'm not going to allow you to play judge and jury over whether I should be allowed to run in your group. I don't have to justify myself to anyone. And if you don't like it, you can GTFO out of MY group.

You and all the other disagrees are only using this feature for grouping.

Pushed out and left out are the same meaning and if you're in charge of group running then you have no fear of being kicked for petty reasons.

By all accounts you're a successful player and a feature isn't going to take that away.

    Not necessary.

No gear inspect helps average but not fully optimised ppl who can usually pull their weight.

And those ppl who run god awful quest rewards and not even cheap craftable sets or are completeluly oblivious to basic game mechanics are easily recognizable anyway.

Totally agree with you man. I remember at ESO launch, when i started analyzing the skills, i was like damn everything magic based, there were no stamina morphs. So i was like i am going to go 7 piece light armor because i think that may mitigate better in this game and all the passives are for magic. Never read it from forums online, several players and long time mmo players in my guild was calling me out in teamspeak saying how horrible i would be and would die and stuff. Next thing you know, i was dead right on my theory, now i was not the one i am sure that came up with it cause i found out after that some top players were doing that in beta. But again there were people judging me cause it was not what was "normal" for MMOs for light armor to be tanky like i was.

So if you dont use the meta here people will think you suck cause its not what a few of the twtich and youtube dudes are running and say you should run. Of course there are things that really are horrible but its how your build synergizes together with your champion points and gear choices. All that has to come into play.

Being "in charge" of group running is about as random as it gets with the LFG tool.

I wouldn't mind so much if ESO had a vote-kick mechanism in place, but they don't, and I'd rather not make the problem worse by giving some random yahoo the ability to gear-check everyone, just to satisfy their own ego.

NO!! When I was playing WoW with my son I would be harassed running around the cities by high level players for my gear. Not "Your gear isn't the best, let me suggest something for you." Instead it was "You suck. You have all the wrong stuff. Go play Hello Kittyland." I got the same kind of garbage in EQ2 where I was one of the better players in my guild. I don't enjoy raiding so I don't get raid armor in games. That's pretty much why I have been called out on gear - not the right raid set even though I only play PvE. This game doesn't need that kind of nonsense.

Don't let that fool you. The closest to a "conclusive" poll this forum ever gets is when 300+ members vote, and as of right now only 150 have voted. I have seen such polls completely flip once the rest of the 'general' forum population comes in.

That being said, we have seen polls requesting gear inspect before. All of those have generally been slanted toward not liking the idea. So we'll see.
Edit: Do not mind the crossed out bit above. I was corrected.

Why just PC? And no! I don't think ESO needs this outdated feature.

This post was made in general, but also specifically for PC because in this thread (which was stated to be specifically about PC platform) one player made the assumption that the majority of ESO players were not in favour of an examine gear function. Another player debated that the majority could not be known.

The short of the long is, while forums are only a small percentage of ESO players, it's a decent sample of the population to get an idea of opinions and I think there is no reason to believe ESO forum users would be biased to one or the other option based on the fact that they use the forums. Therefore, I am demonstrating that it is actually quite simple to find the majority opinion at any given time.

Thank you for participating in the poll and demonstrating what the majority opinion is on this subject :)

I'm curious, if based on a gear examiner, you got kicked from a group before even starting for wearing The Usual, how would you feel? All purples/golds in The Usual.

The assumption seems that if you don't want to be inspected you don't know how to gear up. I wear The Usual and I still don't want to be nosed at when I can just talk to someone.
