A whole minute?!? And you were forced to actually interact with someone and welcome them to the game?!? That's awful! If only there was an automated tool that would let you skip right past giving a new player a friendly welcome! My v1 DK was doing some housekeeping on Stros M'kai and a new player whispered me, asking what gear I used since they were also playing a dk and wanted some advice. It must have taken and entire minute for me to chat with them and to welcome them to the game.

I could be remembering wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've run a dungeon with you tanking before... If my memory is correct, I will attest that you are perfectly capable of tanking a VR16-scaled vet dungeon with no issuesIt doesn't matter whether you add a Gear Inspection or not when you get kicked from a vet dungeon before it even starts because you're a VR9 tank and everyone else is VR16 (as happened last night).
Haters gonna hate and elitists will just use a gear check as one more indicator that you don't "deserve" to run with them.
Incidentally, I re-queued and joined another group of VR16's and we ripped the dungeon in half in record time with no deaths. So I hope that that first group spent the time I was actually running the dungeon trying to find a "better" tank.
When asked about our gear, we could just respond with:
The Usual
im pretty sure @WalkingLegacy wont count that as sign that the majority doesnt want it. they vote for it but in reality the majority is just too shy to vote as they like. gear examine is a must have for every MMO...not
Extrapolated information that suits your needs doesn't do anything. 4,000 people voting? lol ok.
ESO sold millions of copies. Let's just say 1,000,000 people bought the game. It's more, but whatever.
so your .004% of the playerbase gives you an accurate sample size of data?
no, not it doesn't.

It's not a fear of being left out - it's a (perfectly rational) fear of being pushed out because your gear doesn't match the current meta.
Just because my build and gear choices can't be found on some fanwank build site doesn't mean that it's a bad build - But it does mean that I'm more likely to be kicked by someone that thinks they know my build better than I do. And no, I'm not going to allow you to play judge and jury over whether I should be allowed to run in your group. I don't have to justify myself to anyone. And if you don't like it, you can GTFO out of MY group.

You and all the other disagrees are only using this feature for grouping.
Pushed out and left out are the same meaning and if you're in charge of group running then you have no fear of being kicked for petty reasons.
By all accounts you're a successful player and a feature isn't going to take that away.

Totally agree with you man. I remember at ESO launch, when i started analyzing the skills, i was like damn everything magic based, there were no stamina morphs. So i was like i am going to go 7 piece light armor because i think that may mitigate better in this game and all the passives are for magic. Never read it from forums online, several players and long time mmo players in my guild was calling me out in teamspeak saying how horrible i would be and would die and stuff. Next thing you know, i was dead right on my theory, now i was not the one i am sure that came up with it cause i found out after that some top players were doing that in beta. But again there were people judging me cause it was not what was "normal" for MMOs for light armor to be tanky like i was.
So if you dont use the meta here people will think you suck cause its not what a few of the twtich and youtube dudes are running and say you should run. Of course there are things that really are horrible but its how your build synergizes together with your skill points and guild. All that has to come into play.

Gear examine bro.
Don't let that fool you. The closest to a "conclusive" poll this forum ever gets is when 300+ members vote, and as of right now only 150 have voted. I have seen such polls completely flip once the rest of the 'general' forum population comes in.70% no.
Well, rather conclusive.
Why just PC? And no! I don't think ESO needs this outdated feature.

That being said, we have seen polls requesting gear inspect before. All of those have generally been slanted toward not liking the idea. So we'll see.
