Shoot I tried it, every NB I know refuses to acknowledge the OP skills. Play a Templar is all I gotta' say then you'd realize having a skill that can be spam nonstop with a tooltip of 8-10k is pretty damn OP.

As for stealth, its an issue, but only because yes they are annoying spamming it. But if you play a NB you know it still barely works. However, so few skills this current patch help detect NBs. Mainly pots do.

OP: NBs are pretty damn fun as well, not all AOEs should pop a NB outta stealth. You should read Cloak tooltip.

Everyone spams somethung. Shields, bol, jabs, wb, suprise attack, whip, ect. Don't pigeon hole one class into a spam class. All classes are equal in that regard.

Everyone can get high tooltip damage. As stated jabs hit like a truck. High tooltip damage is nothing. Most of that is mitigated. So few skills detect nb? Try every aoe in the game, flare, magelight, mark. Use them.

How about we ask ZOS to have game where no dies, no one wins, no one loses! We all just put on enchanted costumes, and practice the art of dance fighting! But I'm guessing some would still find a reason to cry nerf on a NB!

Referring to Surprise Attack? I ran an analysis on Surprise Attack compared to Biting Jabs, and the results were inconclusive. Likely the problem is that you're comparing tooltips, and not actually testing them with control factors in relevant context. I might add that testing damage potential with control factors is all but impossible in Cyrodiil, which is why most people do their testing on Blood Spawn, a lengthy fight in which damage can be sustained for the entirety of the fight. Here is a portion of the analysis, for those interested:

    forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/2639994/#Comment_2639994

Did you factor in that jabs must be aimed, every one has to hit for max damage, and its a channel? In the time it takes 3 jabs to full hit you can easily hit 4 surprise attacks. On top of it ALL jabs is broken against shields, case closed.

The case has been closed for a while. When it comes to DPS Biting Jabs > Surprise Attack.

Lol? In PvP and PvE NBs pull higher dps.

I guess all those stamplars pulling higher dps in pve than stamblades is just a fluke then? Based on my own experience, and those who frequent these forums, a great deal of stamblades who are able to pull 25-30k sustain on fights like the Serpent and Mantikora rely very heavily on siphoning attacks for sustain, which ceases to be a viable means of resource management for many builds starting next Monday, considering the nerfs to siphoning attacks' ability to proc on AoE DoT ticks.

What evidence do you have to support this? How are you testing dps in cyrodiil? Do you have any analyses of stamplar vs stamblade dps in a controlled scenario?

higher dps isn't always the best, sustain(which NB's lack compared to other stamina classes) trumps burst. also surprise attack is NB's single target attack, jabs is AOE.

Can we kill three or more at once 95% no no we can't.

This is not like the nerf Dragon Knight post of the past where one guy would face tank 10 people with zero problems, or when Templars would heal due DPS and kill you with Sun Shield. 1v2 is balanced 1vX was not.

Stamina NBs are NOT an easy mode class to play!

Not all NB's take advantage of cloak, nor do they even attack from stealth the majority of the time. The ones that do use cloak/stealth attack are typically magic builds, and running solo/ganking. The ones in a small/lg group rarely use stealth unless the entire group is stealth. I think the real issue people have is the solo ganking NB's that sneak up on them and kill quickly (the point of the NB).

It is an assassin and it is meant to sneak up on you... get over it.

Question, where does the Blackguard/Dark Knight archetype fit into ESO? Does it not fit best into heavy armored nightblades?

I have a stamplar, and biting jabs has better DPS than surprise attack. I fail to see how playing a Nightblade is easy mode. Maybe a magicka Nightblade, but certainly not a stamina one. I've played a stamina templar, stamina Nightblade, stamina Dragonknight, and a magicka sorcerer and if I were to rank them from easy mode to hard mode it would be: sorc, templar, DK, then NB. Cloak is definitely not OP. I don't even have it on my bar for my Nightblade. Surprise Attack is pretty powerful, but I wouldn't place it over biting jabs. Moves that I would consider OP are the following: Mass Hysteria (mainly because of the lack of AoE CCs in this game), hardened ward, crystal frags, overload, corrosive armor, meteor (next update), healing ward, mage light (next update) and rushed ceremony.

I am like you.I run a Stam NB and no cloaking skills on my bar at all.
NBs are a fun class to play. Why others are jealous of their skills I dont know. There are ways around those supposedly OP skills we have. People just have to figure them out.
Fine, take away cloak if you all want that.It wont effect my NB at all.

Don't work as a Stamina Nightblade I get my CCs from Evasion and Fear I only cloak strong DoTs. I see people pop detection pots when I see that Visual affect I laugh cause I don't cloak for combat.

I'm aware of that; however, this is a response to another individual who was claiming stamplar dps is worse than stamblade dps, a claim for which he provided no empirical data to support it. It's a known fact that stamplar sustain is somewhat lacking, but the point I was making is that many of those stamblades who were previously able to keep up with many other stamplars may now find that much more difficult, if not impossible (without changing their build) with the changes to siphoning attacks in the TG update.

The point of the game isn't to 1-shot insta gib people... that's for Unreal Tournament Insta Gib edition. Many people playing NB seem to think like you, that they are entitled to one-shot people without fighting and if it takes 2 hits, to use a get out of jail free card... doesn't make for a fun game if there is no actual fight involved.

no not "entitled" to. But the class is meant to be the highburst from stealth and drop a player quick. that was the design of the class. should it be in one shot, no. Should it be quick, yes. Also, dk is best class for one shots from stealth.

So... MMOs shouldnt allow high burst, high mobility builds. Got it. Well... that reduces the number of possible ways to play your character of any class.

What defensive skills (and related passives) would you suggest to give NBs instead of cloak if you wanted to keep the assassin theme?

Nerfing cloak is only going to cause more people to cry ( the ones who wanted it nerfed in the first place ).

Instead of me sneaking away, you will be forcing me to bash your head in with my board, stab you, slice you and follow it with a WB. You might as well just tuck your tails and move to PvE.

Popcorn for NB Nerf threads is pretty stale.

nope. nb are meant to be sneaky, how is one sneaky in heavy? further, a nb should rely on dark magic such as something like the dark brotherhood which lends itself to light armor. Or look to the other route with thieves guild that requires more sneaking and less killing which lends itself to medium armor.

Additionally, look at the skills of the class. Bonus passives from stealth. skills like reapers mark and assasians blade which require killing people to get the effects. nothing really in mitigation because the point is to not be caught.

"Nightblades are adventurers and opportunists with a gift for getting in and out of trouble. Relying variously on stealth, blades and speed, Nightblades thrive on conflict and misfortune, trusting to their luck and cunning to survive." (game description.)

cant rely on being sneaky and being fast if your trudging along in heavy armor.

    here is a little more:

"Spell and shadow are their friends. By darkness they move with haste, casting magic to benefit their circumstances." (oblivion in-game description)

"Possibly the most feared class of all is the nightblade. They possess many of the skills and philosophy of the thiefly classes, combined with the powers of the mage. Their natural agility and stealth, and their mastery of the School of Illusion, means nightblades are seldom seen, though their hand is certainly felt. Effective nightblades have high agility as well as high intelligence and willpower." (Daggerfall manual description)
