How often is PTS wiped? I like testing things, just curious if characters are actually saved or if complete wipes are the norm?

    In the past, the switch between NA and EU (regular characters and template) has been approximately two weeks after PTS debut of the DLC ... so that NA and EU both get to experience testing with templates and their live characters (two weeks each).

    No guarantees the same will happen this time around. However, if they follow suit with the Thieves Guild, then you can expect the next patch (2/16 or thereabouts) to wipe your current PTS progression.

    ZOS might (as a courtesy) send a note ahead of time ... so that you know when character or template progress will end on the ensuing patch.

    In other words, SOON™.

    Ty for the answer. Is there a way to get a max level ie. V16 character to do testing with or is copying your live character the only way to get a toon on PTS?

    Yes, you do get 8 character slots with which to make a new V16 template character when the NA and EU switch. Incidentally, you can also create a Level 49 template or a brand new (Level 1) template. Bear in mind it might take an hour or more to allocate all your attributes, skills, gear, champion points, etc. on a template character before it is ready to adventure.

    IMPORTANT NOTE: You do not have the choice of selecting any of your regular characters during template PTS testing. Your regular character progress on PTS will be wiped.

    NA currently have their characters on the PTS and have done since TG was released there (Tuesday 2nd of February I believe). Usually NA get theirs for two weeks and then the server is wiped while EU gets their characters copied.

    EU chars are being copied on Monday the 15th (May not be available until the following day though due to patch? Unsure, we'll find out in the next few days.).

    EU then have their characters for the rest of the quarter until Dark Brotherhood (the next DLC) is released on to the PTS in April/May/June time and all content is wiped again.

    This is how it has gone in the past, no guarantee it will happen this way this time around though.

    They did confirm on ESO Live the actual patch is Monday 2/15 and EU character copy would take place then ... but did not confirm when the character copy would be (sometime before that of course ...).

    Interestingly, my Templar main was on the 3rd Floor of the Chalman Mile gate when the NA character copy was done a few weeks ago. I logged into PTS to find a nice view and nobody around ...

    Ok I see my 3 characters from NA on the PTS, but create a character is the only other option I see, just like on live, it creates a level 1 character. Don't see any options for higher level creation

    The Template selection options are in the top-left of the Character Creation screen, in a drop-down list.

    Ooooook... This thread answers my question a lot better than support did. They just gave me a response that said basically "characters may be wiped due to the testing environment", which left a lot of information to be desired. Thanks to all in this thread for the info <3
