Please help relatively newbie player regarding thorough exploration of group dungeons

Divinamama

This question was kinda brought up here: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/110015/removing-from-area but there doesn't seem to be any solutions on that thread. I am a newb, I guess :) and my first 2 group dungeons I just did were awesome but I was really disappointed in how quick everything had to go - the first time around in a dungeon I quickly lost track of the group and it said "removing you from group" so I got booted for not staying together...Of course I really understand this all now because ppl in a dungeon obviously want everyone that goes in there to be working together and battling the villains and bosses without anyone having to take the brunt of the work or anyone getting off easy doing nothing... But, as is noted in the thread I linked, at completetion of the dungeon and receiving your skill point and awarded loot it would be good to then be able to go back thru the dungeon to really look around. Also when I did the Banished Cells it kinda sucked because there seemed to be quite an interesting story line (which I really enjoy!) but I had to hurry along clicking quickly thru all of the story dialogue from the npc's because the group was gone out of the room (onward, onward! Lol) while I was sitting around trying to read the storyline. I am a straggler who loves to take my time in solo dungeons and seek every tiny thing in every little corner. I go slow thru my gameplay reading all the dialogues and even stopping to read the books on shelves sometimes - I'm an older player and a mom of 3, when I get a chance to play it isn't about "levelling" for me or going as quickly as possible! :) and I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't feel *** for the developers to realize that most people going thru those dungeons don't even have a chance to read the storylines in the dialogues (even if they want to) Does anyone know a solution for this? And please don't tell me I nee to find 3 other like-minded players each time I want to do a dungeon because I have no friends (in real life or online  ) and if I need to wait to try to only get like minded players together I will never get a chance to do the dungeons (I only get on sporadically to play, I can't plan with other people for certain days to meet online even though I really wish I could!) ok sorry for the long post, I have never posted on here before so please be kind to me and if you have any answers let me know. I am a level 16 sorceress Dark Elf in the Ebonhart pact playing on PS4 - THANKS! And happy journeys in Tamriel to all of you ESO'ers :kissing_heart:

I can think of only one solid solution, at least for normal mode, most dungeons can be soloed, that way you can read etc...

The last time I did a PUG they let me read the quest line when I asked...

I can't thin of anything else really.

Yeh, that's a tough one. The only thing I can suggest is tell the group up front that this is your first time through and you need to complete the quests. Most of the people I've played with understand and will slow down but ymmv.

I doubt you'll ever get the time to explore tho unless ZOS changes that auto - kick mechanic.

@Divinamama I've solution for you. Create a group via the ZONE chat, asking specifically from players that want to enjoy a slow, exploring, story driven Dungeon.

You can even beat different level. Here is the trick: once you have gathered you team and you know everyone name, kick one person of the group (after have explained). Queue in the Dungeon Finder for the Dungeon you want, once the research is started, you invite the player number 4.
This little trick will allow you all to battlelvl and have the Dungeon scaled to Vet16. With this trick you can group up with players from various level, and still enjoy the content at your ease.

Guilds? PUGs are and always been bad, if you're console player, chat should come this year, I guess Q3-4.

If you played on XBOX I'd join you, that's exactly how I like to play and I'm finding group play is always a case of me running along trying to catch up all the time so I mainly solo everything.

It's a shame you're not on EU/PC because that's precisely how I like to play too; I am actually interested in the story, at least the first time around, and I am not fond of being rushed through a dungeon.

In this situation I always did screenshots of dialogues to read later at my own pace. Can you do something like this on PS4?

The first few times I do a dungeon I follow the story, some of them are pretty good. Also some dungeons are very nice, Crypt and Vaults have a lot admire in terms of architecture. However, after running dungeons multiple times they do literally become a run.. If I do them with new or pugs I do check to see how they want to run, if they need the quest or want to explore than I'm cool with that, if we want a speed or no death run, also cool.. Speak to your group, you'll find most people are very flexible.
If you're on xbox EU and need someone to help out with any dungeon then im more than happy to oblige.

Best thing for you is to join a friendly casual social guild, and do runs with them whenever you are gathered and can run together. They tend to respect others exploring, looting every containers possible, reading all conversations etc. if they know beforehand that this is what you wish to do.

I helped many non-veteran players to run through dungeons, and I usually one shot mobs and bosses unless the players tell me not to do that. I don't want to rob them of their exploration if they do not wish to, but 14/15 players prefer it rushed, so this is how I start out.

Thanks so much everyone for your answers so far! I didn't know I could attempt to solo these dungeons, and trying to find a lower level player to group with then promote to leader (so the dungeon will be scaled to their level) sounds like a great little work around! I also like the screenshot of dialogue during hurried screenplay idea :)

I have characters on a second account just for this reason. I log into that account on my laptop, group and set the lowbie as leader then run my main, much higher level character through the dungeon reading and exploring to my hearts content. I follow the lowbie along so it gets credit too.

Just asking if they can hang on while you read it is the only thing. In PUG's on PS4 though this isnt really viable. Your only real option is to join a guild, perhaps that way you can communicate with and get to know people that don't mind spending the extra few mins.

This has been my problem in various MMOs. I've always have loved looking around and reading the quest dialogue the first time around. FFXIV was so frustrating in that regard for me. Some of the storyline quests were imbedded in group play. Nothing like being in a "go, go, go" group and being in a cut scene. Absolutely awful.

As other have suggested, I would set up you own group or explain to the group that it is your first time through. Most folks are understanding.

That is true, but at least the players in FFXIV actually LET you watch the cut scene, unlike here in ESO, the community wouldn't even give you a chance to read or listen to storylines in group dungeons.

I am in awe Elloa!! because I watch your Youtube vids and I see you as an ESO celebrity!! :) Thanks very much for answering my question and thanks to ALL of you -
Elloa: I am sorry but I am not quite understanding why I should need to kick one player from the group? I kind of understand (so that the dungeon will scale all of us to Vet 16) but just not sure why the act of kicking one player then re-inviting them once the research starts will work to do this?
Thanks again! and keep making those awesome videos <3

Basically you have to kick one person (or have them leave the group on their own) because you can't queue for a dungeon in the group finder tool if you've already got 4 people in your group. It's the queuing that causes the people in the group and the dungeon to all get scaled to VR16, so the queuing is a necessary step. You want to activate the search and then immediately re-invite the person who you kicked from the group though, because you don't want the queue to actually find a new 4th person for you.
