Why does the altmer style light armor look like ***?

Excuse my profanity but it's just an eye sore really. Massive stiches all over and just poorly put together pieces of cloth. The you look at the redguard style and it's the exact opposite. Practically seamless, amazing flowing design and it looks just amazing. Why??? The redguard are fighters, fighters so ferocious that they're the only race to fight off the Aldmeri dominion! High Elves are all about appearance like this does not make sense and I can't craft good looking clothes because I haven't learned the redguard style and it really sucks...

You can go to some Guild Traders and buy redguard motifs for 200-300 gold.

Try going in guild stores, there you should find the redguard motif, more often at a reasonable price!
I know what you mean, I almost never use the high elf motif for the exact reason, it looks like the clothes are thick and not as elegant as you would expect for a high elf, but thankfully there is the dunmer motif :D

Altmer light armor really doesn't make sense to me either, and in my opinion it looks horrible. :D

It really doesn't fit the race the slightest. It is part of the lore that the Altmer are absolutely obsessed with perfection and aesthetics. I can't imagine that whoever came up with this design knew anything about the race.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

When you colour it right, it's not that bad. But yeah, it should be more chic, but not an issue, as far as I'm concerned.

Agreed. Altmer should look similar to that of their ancestors - Ancient Elf (Ayleid?) Perfectly smooth, invisible seams, not something a drunk Nord would stitch together in a afternoon while on a drinking spree, on that note, even crafted begginer Nord light armour looks better.

Actually, it would make sense for it to be more of a nordic style with rough seams and overall "rough" appearance, i disagree with it being redguard. Yeah, they were fighters, so are nords, but redguards are much more sohpisticated when it comes to culture and appearance, whereas nord mentality is more like "Meh, it's comfortable and gets the job done - good enough for me".
But again, Altmer should be above both when it comes to aesthetics - and I agree, it's just plain awful and wrong, makes me think if devs didn't mix them up at one point and never revisited it.
    Sometimes, I dream about...cheese...

If you check urns, backpacks and furniture, you'll find all the alliance motifs fairly quickly. I found them all by level 37 I believe.

I hope they give Altmer and Dunmer armor an update like they did Redguard and Orsimer.

I did expect Altmer robes to be a little more ornate and showy to be honest.

Ah yes, also why can High Elves not sew for Sh**?

I mean really. Look at all this terrible stitching on the Max Tier armours.

    Altmer-Ancestor-Silk-Female-Robe-Front.jpg

    Altmer-Rubedo-Leather-Female-Close-Front.jpg

    What is That? Ugh.

Why are High Elves so bad at stitching clothes? I would've thought they would be one of the ones to be more elegant with more delicate and fine stitching and patterns. But apparently they can't even sew a Breast area or a Robe properly. These really do make the armours look shabby and bad, not like well crafted expert adventurer or warrior armour.

That's why I make almost all my Altmer's gear in Ayleid or Dwemer styles, or if I have random ugly gear I convert it to Imperial.

I'm glad I'm not alone in this. Maybe if we make a big enough fuss they'll do something about it haha. Because I'm really into playing the high elf character. And when you talk to Uldor for the first time he even says "I change bodies like the high elves change clothes" implying they must keep their wardrobe up to date. And thanks for letting me know you could buy them in guild stores! And lol keybaud I didn't even check to see if there was a thread like this one. Well I did Google why high elves robes are sh** but didn't get much haha. So I had to get on here to rant lol
