The way pvp could have worked for the Justice system

It could have been something similar to the bounty system in Star Wars Galaxies, The later part of SWG that is. Where you would have a bounty board, That would display a players with bounties on them, and 1-3 players could pick up that specific bounty could draw that name from the bounty board, and then given tools to find and hunt down the player.

To prevent griefing once the player is killed the bounty drops. And once the bounty hunters die, they lose the bounty. And have to retrieve the bounty from the board again. You could also make it so you don't see any bounties on the board but the ones that are around your level.

Pvpers have been whining about this forever.

There are just way more people who simply do not like open world pvp.

    Give it a rest already.

Pvp is still completely voluntary. In that situation though..just don't commit a crime. Or don't get caught

You have all of cyrodill which is made up of multiple campaigns and the entire first dlc was dedicated to pvp. If you cant find people to pvp with thats not the developers problem.

That's no more true now than when the argument was first put. Telling people that don't want PvP penalties for their PvE crimes in PvE areas that the way to avoid PvP is not to do the PvE content was never acceptable and ZOS saw the light of day on it. Move on.

There is no way you are going to have a constructive conversation on this topic in this forum. It's been tried before and failed miserably, regardless of who said what. The idea of a pvp justice system in pve zones is just too sensitive of a subject to even talk about.

Or... maybe they just are not interested?

I play PvP in Cyrodiil but still have no interest in doing PvP in other areas.

Some players don't get that many people get all the PvP they need in Cyrodiil and are terrified of other people ignoring their empty lives and need for weird game based validation.

    See what I did there?

Then have a toggle for it, just like the toggle to kill innocents, so that you don't go on the bounty boards and can keep your boring pve self. I'm sure there would still be plenty of people that wouldn't mind keeping the toggle on.

I find it funny that people don't mind getting their behind reamed by guards, but are terrified to have it happen from a player. I'd much rather face a player than an unkillable guard

Yes it is a system that clearly does not work. Of course the largest mmo to date had an opt in pvp system in pve land, but clearly any game with such a horrible system would never survive. Well again, never survive again. I mean that one was friggin huge.

Although I do get the gripe, some people want to be all steally and not have to worry about consequences. Ok I get it. But there really isn't any valid argument other then that. Well unless you have no faith in Zos to do it correctly...which sadly for us all, might be valid as well.

well there are enough RP players who want to do the crime and not the PvP. especially with the game leaning towards it with certain aspects like legerdemain and upcomming TG. but your second paragraph is sad but true

PVP justice system would have turned this community from bad to worse, it was good call to drop it. All those who've played on PVP and PVE servers know what kind of difference it can make. But I think Guards should have be able to tackle Criminals, like little mouse and cat game, one tracks another and when find, tackles him/her.

There is zero consequence to death In this game. Absolutely no impact aside from a run from a way shrine.

With this in mind, I really struggle to understand anyone's aversion to pvp as you have more chance vs the player than vs the guard.

As much as I despise PvP and avoid engaging in it, I think it would benefit the justice system. After all, the player decides whether he wants to become a criminal and risk PvP or if wants to remain law-abiding.

I wouldn't probably use the word terrified.

I could only imagine how many people would stay hidden, looking to gank someone with a bounty. Look at how many jerkbags hide near the PvE quests near cracked wood cave.

Thank god, they've put this to rest.

Good move on the part of ZOS imho, I used to see posts here on the threads of people that could not wait to go to Auridon to gank the lowibies, why people think that ganking players that cannot defend themselves is fun is beyond me. I think they avoided a poop storm of epic proportion.

I agree with ZoS' decision. Very glad they did not implement phase 2. It would have created too many ways for greifing and higher level players roflstomping lower level players. This game was not designed for open world PvP and it is too late to change it now.

I enjoy both PvE and PvP but prefer them to be separate things. I go to Cyro or IC when I want to enjoy PvP and play in PvE when I want that game play.

If you want open world PvP there is another game coming out soon that will suit your playstyle. It is pretty much made for open world PvP with very little PvE in it and should eliminate the "PvE ruining our PvP fun" hatred.

They should have just made an opt in system, where you could commit crimes and not be attacked by other players if you didn't opt in in the settings. That would also mean it would only be serious PVP players anyways, because people who don't want to PVP just wouldn't opt in. Many PVPers wanted this so they could fight other players in a different environment, not simply so they can gank PVErs.

Well I personally was existed about the whole open world PvP AKA good guys VS bad guys and all but as ZOS said and many figured what would happen is that ZOS couldn't figure out a way to stop griefers.

You know "those players" (can't use that type of language on the forums) who would do nothing but kill the lower level players and camp at wayshrines dungeons banks and so on just to make the lower levels online life a living hell cause they have nothing better to do with their apparent pathetic life.

Exactly, an opt in system would work imo

That's why you would make it so you could only attack people in you level range
