I've been queuing all night for a vet mode dungeon and the group finder INSISTS on putting me in a normal mode group.
Fine. The first time I felt bad for leaving, so I spent an hour of my time helping some squishies through the normal mode. IDGAF. It's a game, it's all good. We did it.
But now I've ran out of time to do the vet pledge that I needed, because the group finder keeps putting me in normal mode groups. I've just tried it 3 times in a row, relogging in between, and it STILL put me in a normal group.
So firstly, I apologize to the three groups whose tank just quit before the dungeon started, but if you want to get mad, please direct your anger at the game, which is clearly broken.
Secondly, no-one cares to listen to a tank spamming zone chat 5 minutes before the next pledge comes up, so I've completely missed it now.
Thirdly, I really, really try to use this group tool to help people. I like tanking and people need tanks. But please, for my sanity, can you at least ensure that it queues me for the things I actually ask for?
FFS.

That is working as intended. All groups formed through the group finder are scaled up to vet16 so even if you aren't vet16 your resource pools, regen, weapon and spell damage would be scaled up to that so you can complete it.I've been queuing all night for a vet mode dungeon and the group finder INSISTS on putting me in a normal mode group.

Some times the group UI is buggy and will say Normal for some people until they port into the dungeon.

No, it's broken.
When everyone else in the group is lvl 20-30 and I specifically queued for a VET dungeon - it's broken.

Scaling is not the same is vet 16. I dont have a;l my abilities, i dont have my morphs, i dont have my passives, i am using crap green gear, my jewelry arent sets. Its far from being vet 16 when you dont have some of your abilities and 80% of your passives yet.

You'll just have to deal with it. ZOS have said this is intended as the group finder can take anybody at any level that is searching for a group through it. If a vet16 is looking for a normal pledge group and gets grouped up with a level 25, a level 23 and a level 30, why should they have to do a dungeon that is scaled to the lowest level? It wouldn't help the rest of the group at all as the vet16 would kill most enemies resulting in no XP for anyone else.

The way you're using it, will place you into a normal dungeon group. If you want vet only, then
-choose your role
-change from normal to vet (do not select the vet dungeon yet)
If you don't change the drop down from normal to vet, then it's you who is choosing all normal dungeons and not the game. It's not bugged, you're just not using it correctly
Sorry if this is rude but I see this post over and over and continues to blame the game but it's not the game that's choosing normal over vet. The dungeon name that says vet does not put you in a vet dungeon if you don't first select vet mode over normal.

It's sad really, because lower levels could benefit more from grouping tool than v16's who already have a well established social network, and just use it for daily pledges they have already done 100 times over

well, *** me. You're absolutely right!
One would think that changing the icon at the top to "veteran mode" would have some kind of effect on the dungeon you're queuing for, but apparently it's only there to confuse people.
ZOS needs to take their UI "designer" out back and give them a good stern talking to. With a clue-bat.

I've been suggesting they completely remove some things for months....it falls on death ears...since this was added on PTS loooong ago. Its not your fault that the UI doesn't even make sense and requires instructions....
Maybe @ZOS_GinaBruno or @ZOS_KaiSchober will take another look because all that should be on there are:
Role:
Difficulty type:
Any, or specific dungeon (remove the Vet stuff because its not a real selection)
-enter queue-
Thats it.

Yeah. And it's weird because I'm not a noob or anything - I've been playing for months and using the group finder almost daily.
I knew the dungeons were listed twice in the drop-down, because I've successfully queued for vet dungeons before.
The group finder is a travesty of UI design. In fact, I just showed it to our UI designer at work, and he just about spit coffee all over the screen. Having the vet mode dungeons in the list alongside the normal dungeons, while providing a functionally useless toggle at the top... it's just bizarre.
However, I still stand by by original assertion that the group finder is broken. It's just the design that is broken, not the functionality - because it was working exactly as I asked it to...
The group finder is a massive fail really at least for low level players. Never really had to use for higher level since theres always people making groups in zone chat at the undaunted enclave zones.
Scaling noobs up to Vet 16 just isn't working good.. I have been playing since beta, I know what I'm doing and my noobs are kinda twinked out with good sets and blue gear and 300+ champ points at the moment. But these vet 16 upscales are just to hard. Especially when your with real noobs, to the game, they are just way to hard for them. The dungeons are just not a learning experience at all. I don't know if scaling non vet players maybe just up to level 49 would be a better solution, but damn these mobs are just have way to many hitpoints and they hit to hard for noobs to take. I've never beaten a group dungeon scaled up to V16 on a non vet character using the group finder at the lower levels like pre 40.

Grouped with a Guy the other day, Who was telling me about his build, He was like i am an Orc and Orcs are all about heavy armor because of the blacksmithing passive. So he was an Orc wearing 7 heavy armor pieces but was a magicka build using ransack as his main dps ability and was bragging about the amount of dps that his ransack does. Oh yeah and another guy was our Tank and he was DPS.
