Magicka DK with Heavy Armor build for PVP - is it worth it based on TG release

I was hoping to get some feedback or insight into a Heavy Armor Mag DK for PVP and if anyone has had success with it. i enjoy playing in Blackwater Blade as i find there isnt so much lag and there is always people on at the times I play and often it isnt as serious as the vet campaigns. My stam nightblade just hit vet level so i got kicked from the campaign and wanted to try a DK as i havent played this class before. I have a v16 mag sorc and love the mag side of things but hate being a class canon when up against a stam DK, templar or NB especially. I rolled a Altmer Mag DK yesterday and originally thought i would go light armor and double bar a destro staff. Once getting into PVP I quickly changed it to destro/SB and put on 4 peices of heavy armor and 3 light. Even after the changes I am pretty underwhelmed with the damage output, almost feels like i am doing nothing at all especially after playing a stam NB in BW and was a wrecking machine. I didnt expect the mag DK to hit as hard as the stam NB but the lack of damage does seem ridiclous. Although I am only a lv16 at the moment i have 252 CP points and was thinking about the below build. Can anyone give me any ideas on whether its viable particulary with the upcoming TG buffs to the DK mag class.

Race - High Elf

Bar 1 - Flame Destro Bar
Force Pulse - elemental drain - sea of flames - green dragons blood - refelctive scales - Ult, Take flight

Bar 2 - Sword & Board
Burning embers - Shield charge - Molten whip - burning talons - sea of flames - Ult, standard of might

Gear - 5 piece heavy (dont want to be a class canon and mag regen is 1600 with battle leveling), 2 light with diamond traits and all magika enchants. Unsure what sets to use, at the moment i am using seducer and cant craft any sets over 4 traits in Blacksmithing.

CP
Blue Tree - Elemental expert - 84 points
Green Tree - Arcanist - 74 points, Tumbling - 10 points
Red Tree - Elemental Defender - 64, Hardy 10 points, Quick recovery 10 points

Mundus - The Mage

    In short, no.

Go light armor with full impen. Way tankier and more sustain than heavy with infused/divines. Plus higher crit and spell pen. So more damage.

Also, gdb is a terrible heal. Burning embers heal is getting a big buff, but running without resto is very risky and likely a bad idea. Especially if you've not played the class before. A reliable heal is very much needed imo.

Standard is also a bad ultimate in pvp. Could be OK in sewers I guess. But in Cyrodill, you drop that and I just roll dodge out of it. 250 for like a 2 second dot. Meteor is the ideal one. Until then, bats if you fancy vamp. Take flight or even magma she'll would be better than standard though.

4 seducer and 4 magnus is probably best for gear. If you keep sword and board, make the extra bit seducer.

I was thinking much the same so I crafted 5 pieces of HA julianous and was overwhelmingly disappointed with the physical damage resistance increase I got as opposed to light armor. I haven't completely given up on it yet. I'm going to farm vMA for some permafrost to run 5 julianos, 5 permafrost 1 Kena and see how it goes.....

Thanks for the insight. Do you think coagulated blood would be a better morph if I dont use a resto staff? After using standard i would have to agree with you and i think i will just use take flight on both bars for the time being. I know alot of people like using Vamp on a Mag DK but after playing a stam NB and realising how fast i could kill any class of Vampire i found in PVP I dropped it on all my characters that had it LOL. I might change over to 5 light and 2 heavy and see how that goes.

    Thanks

Is there some info in the forums on Dark Brotherhood HA buffs, or is this just something HA users are wanting in the DB update?

Wrobel confirmed HA and stamina buffs in DB on ESO live. Now if it's the HA buffs tanks really want or just a small tweak that does nothing is unknown at this point.

There will be 3 or 4 tiny insignificant buffs and one massive nerf so that in the end HA users will be overall worse off, this is the ZOS way.....

At op. Heavy armor in pvp can absolutely work for dks. If you do go down this route you want to build your dk around being able to sustain your resources and out lasting your opponent that's how you will get kills with heavy. I would run something like 5 heavy seducer all impen Kena shoulder 2 torugs and willpower jewelry. Destro staff on main bar: burning embers or maybe deep breath if in a group lava whip talons or fossilize and the dk fireball magelight skill. 2nd bar resto staff: annulment rapid Regen or coagilating blood flappy wings dk fireball healing ward. But yea just gotta keep in mind that mag heavy dks aren't a class that we can burst down our opponents.

Thanks for the input. I have continued to run 5 heavy 2 light and using seducer and magnus at the moment. I have actually been working on my main sorc again because i am really not enjoying this class or build at the moment, it doesnt appear to be good at anything (except looking like a badass battle mage) and i dont have the time to waste on grinding in hopes it will get better. I might re-look at it once the thieves guild update goes live. I have realised why so many people have left their mag dk's on the shelf and have been pleading with ZOS to fix the class.

You could try a 5l/2h build and make sure you run volatile armour and 2x bloodspawn.
    PS4 EU DC

    Current CP : 756+

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

RIP my effort to get 5x v16 characters...

Since it's for PVP you might consider using medium instead of heavy armor for the stamina synergy. At least until we see how heavy is addressed in DB update.

magic dk are very viable in this new patch.
