Why do people say it's best to mix armor when you've unlocked Undaunted Mettle?

    My preferences are:

    Stamina Dps - 7 Medium.
    Magicka any - 6 Light, 1 Heavy.
    Stamina Tanking - 6 Heavy, 1 Medium.
    Magicka Tanking - Get real.

Sorc tank: 5-1-1, 16k< health, bound armour and inner light toggles, only other buttons are shields. You *** on everything and do more DPS with your overload ultimate than any two other players in the game put together

    You can thank me later.

You mean I can thank you for dying when you have no stam to block one hitters and lose aggro all the time like the majority of magicka tanks do. Dps'ing as a tank near pointless when any competent Dps'ers can eat up most bosses. With the current state of heavy armor passives and nerfs to defensive builds (Stam regen etc.) I would rather be a dependable "rock" that enables the team to be clear of threats to work to full potential than a third mediocre Dps. You can stack personal shields until the cows come home but as a DK stam tank I can crowd control, buff and minor heal the team while building ultimate fast for further team buffs or emergency personal shielding such as magma shield. I would probably kick you if you showed up to tank with 16k health in a serious run.
I didn't choose tank life, tank life chose me.

Serious? The light armour one is something stupid like .8% crit per item. Nothing you'll miss. I'd take 6% magika any day of the week. Not to mention the extra armor. Set up is heavy helm, med shoulders and all light 5 items. Works the best...well it's there for a reason isn't it. It's like an extra 2k armor.

Heavy chest and Medium legs will get you the best Armour stats.

I believe legs and head have the same armor stats, so it is often best to let RNG dictate which will be in what armor type...after all, it is hard to find that perfect helm. (i.e. hvy chest; if you get a medium helm then use light legs and visa versa)

I guess you are one of those thinking dk Tanks is every thing.

Newsflash: there are mag nb Tanks that dont lose aggro, perma Block and debuff enemies and heal the Group at the same time, and all that with out any fancy spear shards or help from the healer

Yes. Legs & Head have the same stats and ofc agree, depends what pc of head or shoulder you get, and build the rest of sets around them....

It's better to run 5-1-1 if you're using light.
For medium or heavy go 7-0-0.

Ah, the rarely invoked, but highly entertaining, "murder them all before they know what's happening" school of tanking.

But, yeah, Sorcs can be ridiculously hard to kill, if you know how to run 'em.

I run 7 medium on my nightblade, I don't think 4% more stats is worth the loss of that stamreg and costreduction I get from 2 medium armor pieces.

5-1-1 isn't always worth, it but 5-2 or 6-1 certainly is

If you are running 7 med you are obviously Stam and get little to zero benefit from running 1 piece of light or heavy (plus you don't really need the mag/health gains.....just wasting SP to get s tiny buff to either)

Conversely this is what you lose with those 2 med armor pieces:
    - 658 crit
    - 8% stam rec
    - 6% stam cost
    - 14% to sneak cost
    - 10% detect area (so you are spotted 10% further out)
    - 6% sprint cost
    - 8% dodge roll cost

    that is a HUGE list
