Seriously, how many is a zerg? Just answer the question.

Anything more then a group technically

Though I should clarify that steathers might consider something like 4 a Zerg if there is a stealther meta in the game. Since everyone stealths in this game it's harder to say

But a group is 24 people.

    That's 6 groups.

That's one large group, as defined by the game. Also, someone might mention the Cyrodiil group finder says Cyrodiil is a 24 person group activity.

"Large group" is the term this game uses for a raid. You can see it when you invite a 5th player - the game informs you that "this group is now a large group" and the UI switches to raid frames.

And what do you take that to mean? It's clearly a designed system to help you run a large group in a large AvAvA zone.

I take that to mean this game clearly differentiates between a "group"(up to 4 players) and a "large group"(up to 24 players), so saying "a group is 24 people" is, in this game's terms, an incorrect statement.

No one ever said its not a large group past 5, but if you read "large group" very closely, you will notice the word group, therefore after careful examination, max group size is 24. Are you still with me here?

As i said, the game clearly differentiates between "group" and "large group". Those have, in this game's terms, two different sizes. Therefore, in this game's terms, saying that 24 people is a "group" is incorrect. The correct statement is that 24 people is a "large group".

But how is a large group not a group? It has players grouped together does it not?

I am talking about the technical terms this game uses for it's two grouping mechanics. You are talking about the generic meaning of the word "group". As long as we are discussing this topic on a specialized forum dedicated to this game, the specific meaning this game gives to those terms has to take precedence over the generic meaning, to avoid confusion.

Ok but in technical terms relevant to this game, how is a large group not still a group?

Originates from Blizzard's game Starcraft where zerg were one of 3 playable races, aliens like appeareance, zerg were characterized by using large numbers of weak units to swarm the enemy, also another charasteristic of zerg were that everything was organic, ie, zerg didnt used machines or any artifacts, they would mutate their own buildings from special kind of larvae and advanced units were created by mutating basic ones. Units were cheap to make and it was possible to make extreme numbers in short period of time.

Nowadays term zerg is used in mmo games to describe force consisted of large group of lower level players (often with only basic equipment) who use numbers rather then strategy to defeat the enemy, therefore requiring no skill. This tactics is commonly known as zerging

My Definition of zerg: ppl who abuse the aoe cap and contribute more to lag than other with their stacking on crown in a 5m² radius.

Yeah i look at the ppl in the thread who fear the next patch so hard that i can smell the poo in the diapers.

Äh i mean of course: poor pugs and bla bla and less tactic and who will attack the breach bla bla

I've been too lazy to follow this thread but I just wanted for quickly put in what I think of it.

When I looked at vicious death, at first I thought "Great! Time to dust off the Magicka Nightblade!" because you know... who wouldn't like to bomb a group and instantly kill half of them... But then my mind drifted back to where it always does... when you could build yourself in such a way that forced groups to spread out or take massive damage, or spread out because the more people surrounding them gave them more resources... and I just thought... why not just go back to that... what makes a set with the potential to kill large groups of people in seconds better than dynamic ultimate? But meh...never gonna happen

Especially goodtimes when one knows that nothing about a set requiring massive playstyle/build adjustments will get changed. Atleast i´m on the l2p side now after shieldbreaker happened.

Guilds will adapt. Better than most, really, because having a good group means we get to synergise builds, sets and play styles to properly adjust.

Still a stupid bandaid lazy fix set tho ;)

    Pretty sure of that.

And i agree that fixing the underlying gamemechanical problems would be a million times more desireable. Pretty much agree 100% on everything you´ve said what´s wrong with the pvp/game.

We just differ in you prefer the current version over what´s currently on pts and i´d love for pts version to be live yesterday. It´s the first time in 9 months things actually might (and i´m not even sure) improve for our playstyle. Currently it´s horrible.

Still this set will make my/our smallgrp play more enjoyable and simply being a theoretical threat to some grps might change the current toxic"chase those ap smallscale piniatats until they´re dead" mentality.

I don't chase small groups in general unless they bother me. I'm objective based and go after big fights, keeps and scrolls. The easiest way to not die to my raid is to not gank my back line lol. 9/10 times if you're not attacking I won't even let my guys get off thier horse to hit you.

I'm still just upset at all these changes happening at once. Feels like the devs giving up and trying to just scrap organized groups to compensate. I guess I dunno how you think this will improve your playstyle. Baddies will still be bad and you can kill them, good players will still be a challenge, organized raids will still be something to avoid unless you have a Zerg or a raid of your own. How is this going to improve your playstyle? What groups can you not kill now that you expect to be able to kill next patch, how is this going to positively impact your play?

And honestly who cares if a raid or Zerg hunts you down? Sometimes you run into a bigger fish and get burned for it, same thing happens to me every night, sometimes they realize I've only got a smaller group instead of my normal 20+ and just run at me in a mass of red until every last one of us is dead. It happens lol

This thread just reminds me of when shield breaker got introduced. All sorcs (including myself) whined about it day and day out but it's still here today and I have learned to deal with it.

This time all zergers whining and it will most likely go live as it is which I do support as I had to put up with brainless monkeys with weighted bows spamming me with shield breaker so your zergs that are ruining the games performance for everyone can have a turn of being blown up by a small coordinated group, seems fair right?

Zergs no longer being god mode will hopefully push players to make smaller groups and actually improve themselves as a player instead of worrying which barrier number they were and how far away from their zerg king/queen's *** they are. A step in the right direction IMO.
