Soul Shriven motif and style materials

I received an in-game mail with the book for the Soul Shriven motif, as well as 17 style materials. The mail said this was equal to the number of Dark Anchors I'd destroyed. However, I have the Anchor Devastator achievement on that character, which means I've destroyed at the very least 250 Dark Anchors (not counting any that I may have destroyed after getting the achievement).

As it is, the mail is misleading. I do think getting 250 style materials to begin with might be a bit overkill, but then don't say you're giving away the same number as the Dark Anchors we've destroyed, or give us a lower but proportional number of style materials.

it be ... how many you beat from 'said date'. -.- if thats the case... this is BS cause there is still no reason to do them.

What if you complete Cadwell silver/gold with more than one character will there be more than one book?

Is it counting the unique anchors you have destroyed, instead of the total number? I have no idea how many anchors are out there overall, and I can't look at the moment.

3 per alliance zone, so that's 15 per faction, 45 total. I think there are 6 or more in Cyrodiil. I've cleared every unique anchor in the game, so I should be getting at least 50 style materials or so.

Mind you, I wouldn't care if I only got the motif and had to farm the style material. What irks me is that once again the game isn't doing what it says it should be doing.

I would guess so, since motifs are character-specific. I'll try to log in on another character and let you know.

Hey folks! We appreciate the feedback on the system mail, and we’ll look into adjusting it. We want it to reflect that the number of Azure Plasm you receive is based on the unique Dark Anchors you’ve destroyed, not an exact 1:1 matchup to Dark Anchors defeated.

To expound on the formula a little more: We look at the number of unique Dark Anchors you’ve destroyed, and base the number of Azure Plasm off of that. (So if you’ve destroyed the Lagomere Dolmen five times, that counts only as a single Dark Anchor, not five.) The one additional wrinkle is that we count the Dark Anchors in Cyrodiil for double – which is reflected in the actual drop rates, by the way; Dark Anchors in Cyrodiil drop more Azure Plasm than Dark Anchors elsewhere.

Finally, the mail is sent to a character, not an account. So if you’ve had multiple characters beat Cadwell’s Silver, then each character who’s done so will receive a mail when you log in with them. Each mail will have Azure Plasm based on that character’s record of destroying Dark Anchors.

There are 55 total. 45 in the alliance zones, and 10 in Cyrodiil (9 directly mapped, plus the one in Bruma). Based on @MSchroeder's comment, that would imply that if you've completed them all, you should get no more than 65 if Cyrodiil counts as double. But you won't actually get that many because it's "based on" that number. It wasn't clear though how you get 17 azure plasms from 65 dolmen counts.

    Risk vs Reward.
    and Time to Complete.

In PvE you will be able to complete the Anchor without problems (unless they mobs kill you).
In PvP you might be killed by other players, hence it might take longer to finish the anchor you want.

Yeah, right now it just feels random. Anyway, I just crafted a VR16 medium armour set in Soulshriven style (to test Night's Silence for my mischievous activities) and found it disturbingly unimpressive. Don't think many people will be flocking to Cyrodiil to farm this style material.

Account bound. It can be put into your bank.

besides that, every character that completes Cadwell's Silver will get one, but if you're crafter didn't do Cadwell's Silver you can transfer it through your bank.

I assume that's compensation for the dolmens you've already done, whereas from now on every dark anchor will have a chance of dropping the item.

You can farm them indirectly by farming the wailing prison for soul shriven armor and deconstructing it.

I really like the lore-friendly way of obtaining the style material. Add them to Coldharbour material nodes too for more lore oomph.

It was never intended for the gear found in the tutorial area (the Wailing Prison) to give Azure Plasm upon deconstruction. This’ll be fixed on the build that goes to the live servers. You’ll still be able to obtain Azure Plasm by completing Dark Anchors, however.

@MSchroeder Any chance of seeing Plasm drop from Coldharbour material nodes, per @Contraptions' suggestion? Considering the "water" in Coldharbour is exactly this substance, it would be logical if this were possible, and also logical for it to be directly harvested out of the "rivers" and "lakes" of the stuff like Pure Water can be on Tamriel.

I'm just glad I can craft it now. I like the charm of low level gear and that style fits it perfectly. Now I can get rid of all of those level 1 pieces all my alts are sharing.
