I don't have the hip flaps, don't know what all of your guy's problem is but I don't have them.

Besides, those flaps protect vital parts. As annoying as it was the "groin armor" has a very important role.

Eso armor is decorative anyway, and would be useless in real combat. Or even not possible to put on, like metal altmer leggings.

Some of it would but remember knights fought in heavy armor in the medieval days and Romans did fight in a metal/leather combo of armor. Which is what a lot of armors draw influence from.
Just think how long the Romans would have ruled the world if they had cloak and wbKoshkaMurka wrote: »WalkingLegacy wrote: »KoshkaMurka wrote: »WalkingLegacy wrote: »Some armors they look great, I like the Roman legion influences on a lot of them but some of them look like those dorky fluff skirts people wear in public over their pants/shorts. But in eso armor and fighting styles are not even close to historical prototypes.

@Zos, please give us an option to toggle them!

Does not matter since the influences still come from what we know.

A long long time ago, people wore just clothing for their armor.Leather, including those front and rear flaps for protection. They didnt use Medieval metal armor way back then.It was normally the Military in Medieval times who got that type of armor.
Most couldnt afford more than the clothes they wore,or fur and leather.
Also, some of ESO's armor is based on real armor, especially the Imperial armor. And it WAS usefull.

I'd write a long response to this, but I guess its better to just compare some pics:Also, some of ESO's armor is based on real armor, especially the Imperial armor. And it WAS usefull.

Yeah, I totally understand what you're saying, but no offense: you dont really know what you're talking about. Armor styles from eso are mostly really useless, and in some cases could cause horrible and painful death.
Its not like you could just put on random metal stuff irl and be protected. Armor should offer protection, but in real life being able to move is also kinda important
All these decorations and flaps in eso would be useless burden in real life. All those giant shoulder pads, spikes and everything. If you ever saw real armor, you might notice that its much more sleek and shoulder/neck part looks much more different. Even on fancy jousting/ceremonial examples (and keep in mind that average warrior's equipment was much more simplistic than some king's ceremonial outfit).
Hip parts on full plate armor were constructed in compelely different manner as well. Because you know, knights rode horses and can you imagine riding horse with solid metal loicloth, like on eso xivkyn armor? Yeah, there are kinda simular tassets designs, but keyword is "kinda". In real life those parts were much smaller and also compound... Eso heavy armors usually have solid chunks of metal which is in no way realistic or protective.
Not to mention that combat in this game is ridiculous from historical standpoint. Since we're talking about protection, try to equip sword and shield on your eso char and try to do some normal attacks. The way our character mindlessly swings his/hear shield (leaving their torso and head exposed) kinda defeats the point of using a shield at all. And I wont even get started on 2 handed animations...If eso char could meet a real medieval swordmaster, the only way to kill that swordmaster would be making him laught himself to his death.
P.S. Also when people used to wear armor, no one in their right mind would put on a cuirass without some clothes underneath it.So eso's skin tight heavy cuirasses are really weird.

I dont know what I am talking about? Jeez. Can you reread what I said please.I stated that those METAL flaps werent used. However, the LEATHER ones were. Just as you commented in your need to be precise.
And the Imperial armor IS based on real armor.BASED,not exactly.I never said either that ESO armor was useful in real life.THAT would be one silly remark.
Comparing ESO armor to real armor for accuracy is like comparing Dragons to Dinosaurs.
The only actual viable reason for being against the flaps is you don't like them, which is a perfectly legitimate reason to want to see them removed.
Mostly. I think they should be attached to the belt.
