ZOS doesn't need to keep nerfing shields. They need to change how they work. I have 2 suggestions.
1. Make it so you can't cast another hardened ward till the current one is completely depleted.
2. Make the cost increase everytime you cast it again within say 2-3 secs

Result = Players that don't know how to play sorc can no longer take on a zerg by themselves.

ZOS nerfs nightblades cloak but not sorcerers far superior shields... If you are a magic sorc you do not have to die, just spam you harden ward. That is OP and doesn't require any skill at all. I'm not biased, I just don't use the shields all too often (I don't PvP, so it's not really necessary, tbh). And when I do/did, they are not soooo OP as it looks like; it's not that Sorcerers have millions of Magicka to constantly spam shields to keep them up.
I play all classes as well, but I also don't even use Cloak anymore on my NBs (no PvP, no need for Cloak).
For the players who DO use Cloak though, it sucks that it gets nerfed (or removed even?).

Lets just get rid of all abilities and only allow to use light and heavy attacks.

On a serious note, I just think that other classes shields should be buffed instead, and sorcs could use rebalance between burst and sustained dmg.

Well I see why you don't think shields are OP because you mainly play pve. I play mostly pvp and sorcs can get up to 40k magic np and spam shields all day.

Can they even kill a thing when they use up all their magicka just to keep the shields up?^^
Anyways, I wouldn't want them to get nerfed, but like @KoshkaMurka posted, it'd be better to buff the other classes' shields instead.

Leave shields as they are. Stop with the massive nerfs with every major update.

Instead of nerfing great abilities like hardened ward and cloak, give players several options to defeat them through smart play, skill morphs on currently underused skills, and gear sets. That way there are counters to strong abilities, but you have to be thoughtful about how you spec your character and classes don't get nerfed into the ground. They could have done something like this for cloak (which could already be countered through detect pots, mark, the old radiant magelight, and aoe); instead they took an ability that nearly every magic build was already using - magelight - and buffed it to be basically must have for nearly every build.

For shields, the change to DoTs and cp may be enough to tone them down without rendering them useless. Shieldbreaker is also available to stamina builds, but it isn't an iWin button. The dps from light and heavy attacks is pretty low even with shield breaker. All a sorc has to do to counter this is turn their attention to the shieldbreaker user and apply dps. They lose when they panic and bolt away or stand in place spam their shields.

Tl/dr: leave shields alone.

@Moonshadow66 watch any magic sorc play pvp and you will see they can keep shields up and do dmg with out losing magic. It is quite easy as a high elf.

just make em critabble and reduce crit damage on them by like 40%

no they are a unique skill and give sorcerers there class identity. What I think hardened ward should do is apply a minor health reduction when the shield is up. That way players can kill the sorc easier when the sorcs shields are down.
