Wired XBox 360 controller on Windows 10

Hello. I'm trying to get my controller to work and am not having much luck. My computer is up to date, recognizes the controller, and the setting is on in game. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the links. It turns out I have a wireless controller and the charger cable I have does not act as a controller cable and I need a wireless receiver. (about $9 on amazon)

Ah I see $:\$ that's weird because (as you know) the charger cable acts as our controller cable on PS4, and.. on Xbox one(?) so, I didn't think it would be different for PC.
