Can Someone Explain This to Me

Hello everyone, it's been a long time since I've made a thread due to me primarily playing the game. As well as just reading and lurking about in threads here and there. But, I've come across one particular thing which seems to have me baffled. This "thing" is the whole issue people suddenly have with the monster set pieces being sold in Cyrodiil.

I remember very clearly not too long ago, when people were making thread after thread about how unfair the drop-rate for monster helms were. As well as how unfair it was for them to keep doing pledges, and not receive the shoulders that they were looking for. I mean these complaint threads went on-and-on for months. Time and time again. So after a while, ZOS decides to let players now purchase the missing pieces for themselves -- and all types of negative feedback from this concept erupts. What. The. Heck. Were we (the community) not making these long and drawn-out complaint threads a few months ago? About how obnoxious the drop-rates for monster sets? I mean serious, did this totally not happen? And now that we have an option that (in my opinion) solves your issues with RNG... We make all these obnoxious and rude comments about how the game has become casual, and or pay-to-win. Or people just complaining about how its unfair how they had to grind out certain monster sets, while others will have the option now to just buy what they need/want.

So please. Someone enlighten as to what the problem is. My logic is this. Life isn't fair, and deal with it. Stop being hypocritical and complaining. Because, in my eyes? All you (the people whining about the new monster set vendor) people are doing, is making yourselves appear as obnoxious jerks. Is it fair that you when you did grind a dungeon, you received nothing -- yet maybe one of the people in your group received the helmet that you needed on the first run? Without any grinding at all? Is that fair? Is it fair that PC/Mac players had access to ESO to receive certain things and experience way before that of console players, and had the option to transfer all of their items and progress to their gaming platform of choice and basically dominate due to that privilege? Is that fair? Is it fair that some people have time to farm and grind dungeons until they receive whatever it is that they need/want, while others are occupied with things in the "real world" that require a higher priority than things in a game? Is it? Chances are, no. It's not fair. So please, someone enlighten on all of this and I'd be highly appreciative. Thanks in advance.

I suspect the problem is expecting consensus. People have differing opinions. A solution to an issue that pleases some will anger others.

I've been thinking about this and my biggest issue isn't even the fact that I do feel like my progression/achievements matter less right now, to heck with that, not first time and guess it's deal with it or leave, but that this vendor with current prices will effectively undo the whole Undaunted pledges system and bring dungeons back to pre-Undaunted state(which was, well, dead).

Also, there has been a GREAT number of reasonable threads talking about tokens. A counter to the atrocious RNG that'd still encourage people to run dungeons. But it looks to me like ZOS took the easy way out which might not be best for the game in the long run.

Monster Sets was nothing more than long-term progression, and it was absolutely needed at the launch, as there was nothing to do. I believe its gonna be replaced with Housing in the future. So shortly said, they are replacing it with better system.

I will give you an example.

You run the same dungeon X times. You don't get a helmet. You wait for it and buy it using AP/Gold.

You run the same dungeon X times. You don't get a helmet. But you accumulate X tokens, so you can buy a hat you want.

There is no effort in the current system.

So... What about the points I made about people either not having the time to put in said effort, or others getting the gear on their first run by luck? While I slightly understand where you're coming from, I still feel as though my point wasn't gotten.

If you gained said exchange tokens by running dailies (or more by running daily pledges) I think this issue would mostly go away.

I find it funny that you think doing the dungeon takes effort.

People asked for a PVE token system based on dungeon runs. What they got was a pvp AP system. This is bad for the following reasons.

    1. It forces PVE players to PVP to get AP and doesn't really solve the RNG problem PVErs face.
    2. It allows PvP players to obtain some of the best gear without having to set foot in a dungeon and feel the RNG pain Pve players are subjected to. Thus causing a further divide and animosity between Pver and Pvp populations.
    3. Because ZOS is using AP as a token system the dungeons will become a ghost town.
    4. Due to an influx of people in Cyrodil trying to earn AP, the lag will get worse.

People who grinded for hours to get the sets they wanted are angry as other's may not have to grind and suffer like they did and they want them to. It's all pretty selfish if you ask me.

I definitely agree with you. I think I've found the answer that I was searching for. For some odd reason, people want others to endure the negative experience(s) that they went through. And why this is, I have no idea. But, I do know that this will for others to suffer as the person who previously suffered is very common in ESO. Then they come to the forums, and complain and whine about how it's unfair for others to not have to go through the frustration that they went through. Selfish bigots a lot of us ESO folks are unfortunately.

I assume this is talk about the vendor that appears once a week for a day or 2 with random pve items. Much like xur in destiny or the vendor from warframe? If so you do realize it becomes a grind for the item or wait patiently if you have the marks/coins. This is a lot about pve complaining pvp players will get the helm. But do pve players complain that they can just outright buy pvp sets right now? And do pvp players complain much that pve players can buy the pvp items? More pve heroes complain from what I see. I could be mistaken on the topic all together and be thinking of something different

    This.

Also, I would like to point out that this vendor was added for PvP players. So they could spend their AP on something worthwhile and also be able to get the sets without grinding dungeons.

Their current vendor will just gimp PvE players that like to regularly do dungeons. Less players will do dungeons if they can just buy what they want.
Also, these prices are laughable. Spending 200k AP for a one-time permanent reward really does not solve AP hoarding.

So in the end they are destroying a working system (undaunted pledges) and AP issues still wont be solved.
