How will the Thaumaturge DoT modifier work?

Many skills have an initial damage component and a Damage over Time (DoT) component. For example, meteor does initial elemental damage and then DoT elemental damage. Is the elemental DoT damage modified by champion points in BOTH elemental damage and Thaumaturge; or is the DoT only modified by Thaumaturge; or is the DoT only modified by champion points in elemental damage?

Also just to make sure, will the initial damage only be modified by champion points in elemental damage or will that be affected somehow by Thaumaturge too?

Yesterday i tested this on my liquid lightning and it dropped from a normal 4.8k to 2.2ish without any points in thaumaturge. I would say that anything that is qualified as a dot would only be affected by thaumaturge. It looks like Elemental has NO effect on it what so ever.

It seem that elemental and magic dot will be boosted both by elemental expert and thaumaturge.
Burning ember is soo good for healing now with cp : elemental expert and thaumaturge for the damage, elfborn and spell erosion for a boost, blessed and quick recovery for the pure healing part.

So both effect it but both are in different trees.... well I guess thaumaturge will help stamina based builds since it also shares the tree with physical damage while elemental expert will help magicka base builds cause well magic.

Question is will it make any difference putting points into both CP or just all into one.

Both stam build (especially with bow and bleeding) and magicka build would need thaumaturge at one point. I found thaumaturge in a good moon now.

If you have +20% damage on elemental expert, you'll need a lot of point to get an another 1%. Only one point in thaumaturge (if you haven't invested it before) would give you this 1% for your dots. So, if you want to boost both, you need to spread your cp.
Theorycrafting will tell us the number of CP we will need to put in each tree.

Can you test Meteor? I'm curious to know if the initial damage and DoT are affected by elemental and thaumaturge respectively (i.e. treated as different types of damage).

Note that the other comments on this thread are not supported by testing and are speculative.

hmm... Eh screw it gonna put them into thaumatuge cause already got like 90 something into that tree cause of physical penetration and physical damage so might as well go for that 120.
