Okay, so this dude I play with, he's DPS, I always knew his damage was less than stellar but I dealt with it because he's my buddy.
The other day, I noticed this *** guy is wearing SEVEN pieces heavy armour! He's a stamina build! DPS! HEAVY ARMOUR! He won't even do 5 heavy 2 medium. We spend all our time debating it now and it sucks lol.
Normally I would say to each his own but in this case we rely on each other most times (especially in the sewers because I don't like big groups down there) so his DPS has to be up there while I handle support in gank situations.
Do any of you know of someone doing the same thing successfully? Is he dumb or am I lol

you need atleast 5 pc medium for stam dps to be decent

I mean its not impossible.. I used to be heavy armor healer and I was a sustain champ I outlasted dpsers in pvp they would drain their stam and I would take my time and finish them because I had high hp 30k+ish and my heals so it worked( didn't get ganked due to high hp but damage was so lowww)Edited by Lightninvash on February 1, 2016 5:00PM2 -

✭✭I use to DPS tank in PvP a lot and even competing with players who were running groups I played solo and managed to always rank top 10. I did wear 5 heavy n 2 med back then but now I go 5 med 2 heavy as I wanted more DPS but nevertheless I was still able to 1 v x with both sets.不動の Steadfast - Unwavering

KatzMainTank✭✭✭I don't think it's worth the drop in DPS to go pure Heavy Armor. Then again I'm not exactly up to date on the numbers for damage reduction from Heavy Armor in combination with other factors. I usually follow the general rule of 5/1/1 or 5/2 and go light armor for the passives which are great for builds with a majority of magicka utility. It is his toon and his choice in how it's built, but that doesn't mean y'all can't debate it.
I love debating builds with my friends. Eventually the opinions turn into someone saying "F'it, I'm gonna test it..." and lets everyone know if it's worth a go or not. Even if it is a viable build, the player's play-style alone could make the build not worth it for them. You should test out Heavy Armor to see for yourself if he's craycray.EP - V12 - Crafter

With my 7 heavy and points in stamina, I find that my stamina skills like low blow and pierce armor deal quite a bit of damage. 2-3 hits for most pve mobs.0

Not really, he just decided to do that I guess and he says his stamina is fine even though I have to through him a shard after 15 seconds of moving in stealth (--__--)2 -

My bad man, yeah his dps isn't optimal but It's not horrible either because he buffs up and spams WB ( I know he's a dickhead for that lol)
The main concern is his lack of stamina sustainability. He doesn't have those medium armour cost reduction passives and and in the sewers, if we decide to sneak through one of those corridors between rooms, he enters the room with way too little stamina for a sudden fight.
All in all, it's an unnecessary liablity that's sometimes costs us both0 -

Yes I did read it all. My point still stands. You can inform him of all the pros/cons Whether it be pvp or pve, a tank or dps. But no matter what it still remains his toon and hes going to do what he likes. A friend wouldnt come to the forums to tell everyone his friend sucks if they only play together all the time. To me thats not being a friend to him. Thats being an a**hole. If I was your friend and seen this thread about me I'd say p**s off find someonelse to play with then.
Craft him some stuff and ask him to try it (nicely) and see if it helps you both. If he doesnt agree. Try adding a 3rd person to your group for more dps and leave him be. The only way he will get better is trying stuff out on his own. He will either see the light or he wont. If this heavy armor issue is taking away from the enjoyment of your time playing together, then it's definitely worth addressing in a frank and honest manner.
If it's just that the two of you have a marginally more difficult time fighting through dungeons and quests, I'd leave it be and let your friend play his character the way he wants to.0 -
BurtFreeman✭✭✭with 7 piece ov heavy and the use of proper skills and cp you may become unkillable, if your main role is thanking; depends how you play, the race and the skill you use.
maximum dps should not always the winner in a build, if you have other priority.
you can have a hudge dps effective against 1 target, but do not means that the lower dps build sucks against a large mobs, where you build your damage over time.
anyway, after you level up is not wrong to keep all the same armor piece.0 -

You could probably make it viable with right sets/enchants - some mediocre dps, decent sustain and a bit of sturdiness if that's what you prefer but it sounds as though your friend just feels like sticking with what he originally chose for whatever reason(lore? Like, "I want to be a fierce nord berseker in heavy armor"?(not sarcasm, this could be a legit reason for someone) Looks? Heavy armor does look cool) rather than carefully plan out a build utilizing HA strengths and minimizing its weaknesses(which do outweigh the strengths atm). I had a friend like that, she was very determined in playing all heavy but she saw the light eventually and was really happy when she could do all the harder dungeons and everything with the rest of us finally
Try to have him try it out perhaps? Craft him a medium armor set, give some tips on how to use it maybe. One thing that always seems to stand true is people hate being forced to do something in a video game. Don't do it in the "your dps sucks man, wear medium or gtfo" form, try something along the lines of "would you perhaps be interested in tying this setup out? I'll help you get it done and level/test it, I think you might like it more than your current one. If you don't, no harm done".
My friend always got very...sensitive about being "told how to play", what made her change her opinion eventually was simply seeing us do much better than her in more challenging content, she eventually decided to give it a try and we were more than willing to provide her with some help and tips.5
