And after a few months, after enduring a ton of moaning, the devs will nerf it. And thereafter all trials will be in preschool mode.

I hope this one won't be nerfed. It has a normal mode and a level scaling, so people who don't like the high difficulty will be able to take it down without any nerf needed.
But yes, they won't get the top-level gear, but top-level gear = top-lever player.

When they say hardest do you think that means random instant kills attacks that can't be blocked, can't be seen coming and with a touch of lag to prevent any avoidance? Seems to be the norm so far.

I just hope it will be more "balanced" than vICP or vWGT, (or vMSA).

I mean, these two dungeons were turned into farming areas by the top 1% within ... 3 days... while the 60% "bottom" had to wait for nerfs or give up. That leaves only 39% of the playerbase with a normal, enjoyable challenge/learning curve.

Hopefully this time the top 1% will REALLY struggle and the rest will be able to learn/practice it at a regular pace and not hit frustration walls.

(Percentages are shown to illustrate what I'm saying, they're not "scientific" ;-) )

And I also hope that normal mode will not be a boring walk in the park.

Should it be impossible to fulfill all those different expectations, then I hope the top 1% will really struggle ! If that's what they like ;-)

In vMA I do not like that

But in a Trial with a big group....
I think that random killing attacks that force rezzing and back up tanks will make it awesome

    Something different than speed burning

There is a normal mode and veteran mode. They said veteran is akin to vMSA...but group content. So, I think it will be much like vMSA. You will have a select few that will grind and get it quickly while most do normal to get the mechanics or grind for gear while getting better. But, over time, and after many fails and quite a few tears of frustration, more and more groups will be completing it.

A random one shot will be boring as hell, but a mechanic like web control (crypt of heart) or prison (WGT) who force some people to move in order to free group member (even with a rez-animation) will be cool. More adaptability and reactivity needed !
But really, loosing rez just because of a mechanism is just… non, it can't be.

I have one word to say to that......sure.

I doubt it will be as difficult as Maelstrom for the sole reason that this trial has 12 people in it not 1 and people can watch each others back and you wont be in their alone.

They say something is hard or something is easy but I have doubts that they themselves don't even play through it.

If it's clearly PvE sets that are not viable in PvP, then fine. But "top gear" shouldn't be locked behind hardcore PvE. If it's just unique, no problem, If it's clearly BiS, no.

You can get the set from normal modes endboss and from ALL weekly rewards. So you can get them even without doing the vetmode.

Even if not, if the content is hard enough, not so many players will have the sets. if it's easy a lot of will have (including you?). Don't see a problem with this.
There are also some new PvP-Sets from the pvp-rewards, so PvEer will have to play pvp if they want to get them. So pls don't cry if pvpers have to do pve...

I see what you mean. I don't like the idea of having one set overpowered against all other set, especially in pvp. If it's just a little stronger than actual set it will be fine, or just solo-focus as you say. The set who give increased damage against boss seem to follow this pve-path.

Mmh… would be fun actually if an emperor will be tagged as a "boss" too :p

As hard as Vet Maelstrom, I doubt it but if so,, I can't wait to see this myself. There are very few folks who can complete vMA, I think I'll grab my popcorn as well.

Since some players are so adamant about only playing with skilled players, I think it will be a great show to watch as some of the kickers will become the kickies :)

lol, Maelstrome was cleared on PTS when it was much harder than on live (costreduction bug, damagereduction bug). So i hope it's harder, if not it will get cleared on PTS....which is a bit boring imo.

Id say even when vMJ is about the same difficulty as vMA it will still be harder to complete. Since you are playing with 11 other players there is simply a much higher chance for anyone in the group to make a mistake than when you are playing solo. On top of that coordination is something that can require a lot of work to get down depending on the encounters.

Like I said, I doubt it will be that hard. To me for a trial to be as hard as Maelstrom it has to be at minimum 12 times as hard and that is before you take into consideration the mechanics of the trial.

Out of all of the players who have completed vMA, how many combinations are there if you don't repeat players from one group to the next?

I think the only reliable measurement for difficulty is "how long does it take for people to beat the content"...

vMA was beaten the 1st time on PTS and SO was beaten after 4 months live, so I guess vMA is much easier than SO was (at the start).
Bias is that a single player wanting to beat vMA can spend 24 hours or more on it in one go, whereas a 12-man group has to gather first, find a common time to practice.

Still I don't think there is a more objective measurement.

    Than we should go :
    - how long did it take before 1 team beat it
    - how long does it take before 10% of the players have beaten it
    - ... and so on.

Everything else is valid but subjective.

First you can't say that isnt care bear lol. This is the exact reason you can get those new sets from the final boss of normal mode so the gear isnt locked behind "elitist" content. If it goes the way the hardcore community has been told it will we won't see anyone clearing for quite a while and even when people do start clearing I won't expect to see more than 2 or 3 guilds clearing it within a month of release and for that hard work the only thing they will get is the new sets dropping from every boss instead of just the last.

If this isn't as hard as maelstrom was then this game is screwed. I managed to clear it on my magicka dk (which is arguably one of the hardest specs). The problem with maelstrom is everything can just be burned pretty much. Sure you might need to cast a shield or a heal occasionally but ofr the most part its do as much dps to the boss as possible and kill it before you either get over run with adds or enraged by the boss. The trial shouldn't have fights that can just be burned according to zos the last boss should take about 10 minutes which means you will have to do the mechanics and play extremely well to actually succeed.

I agree, honestly I like this route that they are taking. I hope they have normal which is still rather difficult then veteran which is ridiculously hard (but with rewards not obtainable through normal).

You think so called "casuals" will have fun and be all happy when they're not getting the drops, the title achievement, dyes unlocked and again not the good gear drops lol.

They will not. They will rage until eyeballs plops out. Asks for nerfs and bombard the forum. They wont bother with the normal version more than once, because they also want the real rewards.

Non-elite players usually aren't immersion hunting roleplayer choosing gear based on looks, so get ready for nerd rage.

I just hope the new trial will be more than just another stack and burn fest. That's really why new content becomes trivial so quickly for better groups, they have the dps to out dps mechanics(than cries about how easy it is). While more casual groups lacks the dps to skip mechanics and therefore cries about how hard it is. Would be cool to see something different.
