Is the cost of Crown Store items just "Too Damn High" ?

If you are an ESO plus member then they don't appear to be a huge cost, heck I've spent crowns even on the respec skills scroll because I had a boat load of crowns just piling up and it saved me 30k gold.

If you are not a paying monthly member, then some of the items can feel expensive.

A little confused by this. The price is the same whether you sub or not. You're given 1500 crowns a month but no discounts and new items are added every month. If you don't spend much/any crowns then, yeah, you'd have some saved. If you buy items every month to support the game then you have only what you're given.

If I had known the costume would be 2k, or even if it was up longer than 4 days, I might, *might* have saved for it.

    No warning of price.
    Exclusive for 4 days.
Same price as DLC next month.
Can only be bought with £15/$20 crown pack.
Costs more than month subscription crowns.

Yes, but from my perspective I'm not paying a sub fee for 1500 crowns. So the way I see it, any "crowns" I spend aren't something I spent $15 on. For me the Eso plus bonus are what I spend my money on, and also just to support the folks that have made something I really enjoy.

    ESO has a Crown Store?
    I have 16,000 crowns.

There's nothing I wish to buy. The one pet that I wanted is a goat, so I got him.

If people wanna buy costumes etc then *shrug* people will always buy what someone else is selling.

There's an additional psychological aspect to this.

Some people buy expensive items just to support a product they like. Some people paid $24.99 cash on plug.dj avatars just to support the site. Even though this is all they did did. Literally four counts of moment and nothing more.

    mt4bjl.gif

And then plug.dj shut down, which should be warning enough that you should buy what you like because it feels good and adds value to your life, not just to give charity to a business.

If you love the Nord costume, buy it and don't look back. If you're like, ehhhh too expensive/ not detailed enough/ will never use it/ ep zergs suck/ etc, that's fine too.

I think some stuff like pets for around 400-500 crowns is a good price!

But one costume for 2000+ isn't.

2000 crowns for a costume is too much for me, won't be spending that amount on a costume. 400 is reasonable.

i usually dont complain but that new costume is defo an exeption, it's a lesser polymorph so being equal to a polyorph cost is reasonable

There is a reason things like motifs are have high cost, it's to keep the in game part relevant. If these costs dropped then the in game market would drop significantly.

However things like costumes are pretty expensive, specially if you aren't subbed. But saying that, I work and I spend my money where I want too :)

As long as they're not making the game pay to win, I don't care what they charge for items in the crown store - the more money they make, then the more resources they have for developing the game I like to play. At least, in theory. I trust them to know what prices result in the biggest overall revenue.

That said, some of the items ARE ridiculously overpriced in relation to what you actually get imo, especially the potion/scroll/gem packages. And, well, some mounts and costumes are really expensive too and I wouldn't pay for them by separately purchasing crowns. But I get some with my subscription, so now and then I will indulge and get a pretty cat mount or an interesting costume.

well i think they kinda made a mistake pricing the nord costume though. the work is done and because production cost nothing except for designing fase which is done now. its beter to sell 10.000 x 700 crowns against 1.000 x 2.000 crowns. just simple math.

Most of the items seem okay (they're account-wide after all), but I feel the cost of upgrading bank/bag slots is way off, both in game and in the Crown store.

It's cosmetic stuff. As far as I (and I think anyone) should be concerned they can charge whatever they want for it since it doesn't do anything

I fully expect it to be expensive for the next year or so, until they have so many things in it that they can afford to start cutting costs. I don't mind the costs on the newest things as it helps to keep them premium for a while, stopping absolutely everyone from wearing them.

Yea, I think ESOs entire costume and mount pricing structure is ridiculous... but people buy them at those prices so the community is to blame. If people didn't buy the 2500 crown mounts and 1500 crown costumes they wouldn't continue pricing these things like this.

I'm about to drop some big crown store honesty right now.

I'd actually buy more if it were cheaper and probably spend more on crown store item's overall. However i'm not spending more then 500 crown's per item. It's becoming a little excessive.

Nexon games is the usual model. ZoS could take a page out of their book and also Valve's book with the whole microtransactions. Having a few high priced items doesn't jive. They should be releasing a lot of small cosmetics for low price that will sell in bulk.

    It's an economy of scale.

I assume Zeni assumes that us players have at least income to pay for the game, subbing, and the crown store merchandise.

Why does everybody wanna be so cheap about stuff?

I don't think it is to high I just think a lot of the stuff is crap. I have no idea why you would make a money store full of items that nobody is asking for. I mean a bunch of bear mounts some motifs that you can just buy with gold the only useful stuff is the explorer pack.

Anyone who thinks the prices are too high

    a) can probably just farm in game,

    And

    b) has never played a "free to play" mmo where the top gear literally costs hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Ill stick with these prices. Honestly id far rather see moderate pricing and good support than see the game die due to lack of profit.

That said, zos pls add more actually useful things to your store like a makeover device, more inventory space or even a race switch. The possibilities are endless but the same horse five times is kind of dull... Thats the stuff you wont get my money with.

No. If people are willing to spend the money on cosmetic items then I think they should be highly priced (maybe not as much as a DLC for a costume) but certainly a lot more than just £5 worth or something.
