@sirrmattus It looks like nobody can convince you that magicka DKs are in bad spot. Just level one and you will realize what are the problems that you face while you play it.

Na man. Some very good info on here. I like to debate, and understand. The only way to understand is to debate and ask questions.

Then I can briefly represent the main issues that I have while playing magicka DK:
1) Damage: The damage skills that I use are elemental damage, physical damage and magic damage based. These types of damage are in 3 different CP stars
2) Resource management: it is based on the passive battle roar which was nerfed for Magicka DKs. It used to return resources based on your max magicka now it is separate for each resource.
3) Gap closer: no reliable magicka based gap closer and no range class skills.
4)Defense: bugged reflective scales which can reflect only 4 projectiles. In open world as you do not have mobility you are easily target by a lot of ppl. Probably you never fought good Sorcs who use DK killer combo: magicka det, curse, streak, dawnbreaker, frag combo.
5) Heals - if you want heals, you need to slot a resto staff and cast igneous shield.
6) No execute - if you want to execute, it works like the heals, you have to pre - cast it before using the heavy attack.

elaborate please
I play Magdk since launch, was a blast in PVP, no doubt we got much much weaker. I can't pull the same stunts I could at launch but the class remains fun, but yes I don't win many 1x1 as I used to. You can feel the decline when you focus exclusively in one class.
But you know what? Scales is still pretty strong, it requires spam and timing, calculating how many projectiles might hit you, etc. I think the skill is at a good spot, it requires attention and high maintenance to use it properly.
Battle Roar was a big nerf to Magicka builds but also a fair thing for Stamina ones. I also think the change was justified.
People always complained about the DK immortality but did they stop to think we can't really escape from the battlefield? Also we always in close range...we need the immortality.
Whilst I think some nerfs to DK were justified, they should have changed some skills to address our mobility and range.

If the target is cc immune you go to them, but the skill in general is notoriously buggy ever since the z-axis nerf.
Their self heal is broken.
Their defense is nerfed.
The current meta doesn't really support classes that can't afford to only stack everything into one resource or whatever.
Dots are extremely weak in openworld due to multiple abilites being able to get rid of them instantly (and being spammed like crazy in group raids).
Not to mention the lack of execute, gap closer or a way to disengage (besides a nerfed mist form).
Dragonfirescales unreliable and nerfed approx. 10983 times.
Battle roar nerfed to be scaled from each resource individually (buff for stamdk though I guess).

so technically a stonefist + chain combo would be considered a gap closer?
or talon, or petrify, or whatev cc you use?

Provided you can actually get chains to cast yes, early in the game the nerfed the z-axis LOS on chains to prevent chaining in/out of keeps and its now very unforgiving, just a slight difference in height and no chains for you.

Why does it have less range than every other gap closer in the game and if you want to be on par with them you have to morph it. So you waste a morph on just getting it to the right range, nevermind the extremely unreliability of it.

sounds like toppling charge

Toppling is far more reliable.

And an ult that likely wont ever hit the target when used as a gap closer.
