Does your main's race match their alliance?

Hey guys this is my first topic posted, so be gentle. I did search the forums for a topic of some similarity, but couldn't find one, ergo I'm making one.

I play on XBone, and lately, I've noticed that people's characters' race has been matching the particular alliance that I am playing at any given time, moreso than at launch, where the Explorer's pack was a preorder bonus. At launch, it looked like a UN convention, every color, shape and size to be seen in all alliances.Now, I go on an EP character, and there's Nords and Dark Elves everywhere, go to the AD, and there's High Elves (mostly sorcs) everywhere, and so on...

I know ZOS isn't going to actually tell us how many people have the Explorer's pack, so I was just wondering, does your guys' characters have race/alliance synergy?

My main is a Nord named Tayne King, just to kick it off.

My main toon is an Imperial Battlemage who ended up being cut off from her unit amid the civil war that tore the Empire apart.

She now finds herself within Daggerfall Covenant lands and, as such, lends her skills to their cause until such a time when the Empire is restored to its rightful supremacy in Cyrodiil and beyond.

When she first saw what had become of the Imperial City, well, let's just say she didn't take it all that well.

My races are all messed up since i only play in DC (smurfs FTW) and i have an 2 Hig elfs a Wood elf and an Argonian (poor child...).
Even if i hate elves due to skyrim i RP my caracters as rebels who hate others from the same race (elves) and i've choosed to adopt an Argonian because i will not accept to play side by side with dark elves and it was a perfect macth for another alliance.

I bought the Explorer pack after I made a Breton in DC, then I made a Dunmer and an Argonian both in DC. The Dunmer is my main, so I guess no.

I have 4 characters:
In AD I have a Dunmer, Breton and Redguard (hangs head in shame).
In DC I have a Redguard to restore parity although she is basically just a crafter and had not left the city limits of Shornhelm in a long time (except when she goes and spies for AD in cyrodiil so I guess she is not really true to her faction)

Well the only charater I have up to vet level, (which I want a name change for.) is bosmer and in Dc, way before buy to pay months before, they did not have crown store thus the only way to be race in all alliance is if you bought a retail or disc copy of the game from walmart or gamestop. So yeah I possibly prefer bosmer then nord. I was not happy with the looks of elves in skyrim and I am happy they made them right in eso.

All my characters are matching their alliance, despite me having the "any race, any alliance" perk due to preorder. Its just more fun for me this way!

2 Dunmer, 1 Agronian, 1 Nord in EP.
1 Orc, 1 Breton in DC.
1 Altmer, 1 Bosmer in AD.

Turns out I preferred EP first (because lore-stuff, etc etc), then I realized the EP races were bad at doing... a lot of things, so I just picked the imperial edition.

Redguards are hard to pass by when doing a stamina build, same goes for magicka builds with Breton / Altmer (with the odd Dunmer for magicka DKs).

The only way to buy the any race/any alliance perk is through the crown store nowadays, and the only way to use the crown store is when logged in a character. So the first character anyone not with the explorer pack by default has to be one of the alliance's three races, or Imperial if they bought that version. Also since a new player is probably not going to want to spend money in the crown store when they're just starting - not sure if they like the game yet - then by the time they would consider it their first character is probably going to be pretty high level and they wouldn't want to start all over just to play as a different race, save for when they make alts - but this is about mains.

That could be a reason why, and more specifically, why it was different at launch than it is now.

I have one character per alliance, and 2/3 are in the correct alliance for their race - an Altmer in the Aldmeri Dominion and a Redguard in the Daggerfall Covenant.

However my main character is my Altmer in the Ebonheart Pact, so my answer is no

. As a Mages Guild member I tend to think of him as neutral though.

2/3 of my main characters match.

I have a Breton in DC, an Argonian in EP and a Khajiit also in DC.

The Khajiit (who was actually my first character) is the latest incarnation of my character from previous TES games so she doesn't trust the Dominion (no not just because of Skyrim, it's mainly because of Morrowind because it seemed like all the Altmer I encountered had Khajiit slaves), so my story is that she left home as soon as they showed up and kept moving north until she couldn't go any further (that part is from Skyrim, her sense of direction isn't great so it's not surprising she didn't go the same way twice).

My 4th character is an Imperial, because he's my crafter and it saved buying the motif. He's in AD because he was trying to retire before the Worm Cult killed him and Audridon is pretty and relatively peaceful.

My other two don't match, (Argonian in DC and Bosmer in EP) but they're just mules so I was just making whatever seemed fun at the time.

Incidentally it might still be possible to find the pre-order edition of the game with the Explorers pack. I bought mine on PC in February 2015, almost exactly a year after it came out. I got one marked new and sealed from an Amazon seller and it turned out to be the pre-order version. So even new players might have the Any Race, Any Alliance option for their first character. But it probably is less common than it was.

My main (and only toon) was a Breton archer who started in the DC. He used to be a WW and Vampire hunter, relying on skills given by the fighters guild. But to understand and kill Vampires more effectively he had to become one (when vampire sneak speed stacked with nights silence). Sadly he stayed vampire to long and has turned to the dark side.

But yes, I used to be a pure Archer Breton for the DC, but now I am a Breton magicka NB and still for DC.

DC also has the best storyline and zones (my opinion). If I was to create an alt it would be a DC again. But only after they remove vet rank so I can at least skip the dreadfully AD zones and quests. Damn those where bad. EP was also good and had lots of nostalgia (Morrowind and Skyrim-like zones).

Edit: I own 3 copies of the physical Imperial Edition. So I could make any race any alliance and even an Imperial. But during character creation I did not like the looks of imperials so I changed to Breton what I also had during beta. But it does look like they changed imp race a bit because they look different now.

Mine doesn't, because I started on EP and I was naive. I created a High Elf (for my Templar, which turned out to be a brilliant combo) with an Aldermi Dominion tattoo on his chest.... facepalm-plz.jpg?1

I ruled him out as being a Dominion reject or outlaw, I guess. Or if we wanted to be more.... dramatic, he may have got caught with a few pictures of Queen Ayrenn and was banished from the Dominion.

I don't really have a "main" as such, but if I were to choose one she's a DC Imperial. I have two other Imperials, also DC, a Nord and an Altmer in DC, and a Bosmer in EP. The rest match their alliances.

All my characters are DC; so I have non-DC races in DC (Khajiit and Argonian); but my main is Orc, so yes, my main matches my alliance (though you can't tell at a glance because of all the armor...lol).

My Altmer is of the Aundae Clan of Vampires, found on an island in north Vvardenfell. He's in the wrong "Alliance" for his race, but since he hails from Vvardenfell...I rolled him as an EP.

The Imperial has a backstory as well, but since they can be in any alliance...I don't really feel he's "out of place".

Yeah my main is nord and EP so it's in the correct alliance. All my characters are though as I don't have the explorer pack. For me though I've started to see the opposite lately. In that I see more characters in the "wrong" alliance than I did before, on PC/EU any way.
