CC Build for group PvE - Should I bother?

I'm about to start up a Sorcerer and I have always been really into CC/utility classes in MMOs, and I was hoping to get something like that going.

But is there any point in bringing such a build to group content like dungeons and trials?

With bosses being immune to CC and trash mobs being easily dealt with just with DPS, will I contribute much (or anything) to the group? I wouldn't be fully CC, I'd bring along some buffs and heals as well, but the majority of my slots would be CC skills with the aim of creating a "controller" playstyle.

I hope there is still a place for a role like this in an Elder Scrolls game.

    That's not really how ESO combat works I'd say. It helps a bit if someone(usually tank) CCs trash but you don't even need it to speedrun/nodeath the dungeon, it's just for speed and convenience. There're also not that many CC skills(ultimates aside, DK talons and sorc Encase are the only >1 target ones; the Rune Prison sorc one and its DK equivalent is mostly useless, at least in group content, as it's broken on attack).
    Oh and chains. I forgot DK chains, those are good. But then you're a sorc anyway :tongue:

    And, as you said, most bosses are immune to CC. So I'm afraid that won't work here. You're better off just going all out dps or something(well dps is what sorc are best at).

    It only makes sense if you're the tank. A good tank will try to position and control bosses and as much of the mobs as feasible. This includes using cc and chain to get mobs where it's easier for dd to kill. In the current meta, the other group members should focus on dps as much as possible (and group buff, typically from healer). Who knows how the new trial will change things tho...
