I dont know how to convince my friend to play with me

WindowsNeverDie
Hello guys,
how the title says I want to play TESO with my friend because playibg alone is boring for me but he isnt interested in TESO because he thinks its ***. I bought him the game with the imperial bonus but he doesnt like to give it a chance. It isnt that he doesnt like MMORPG´s he ordered "Black Desert" few days ago instead of testing TESO with me. Can you help me finding some arguments focing him to give TESO a chance? Thank you a lot guys and I am sry about my bad english I am comming from Germany  .

You don't convince them....you share the opportunity. If they like what they see, maybe they start playing but just share. It's your friend, so don't convince them of anything, cause it's your friend

In the future, I'd suggest to not ever buy someone else something to convince them to enjoy it with you. Perhaps treat the account as an offer for other friend to play with you but you run the account (if that's within our rights per ZOS)

Make a new friend with someone already playing ESO.

The problem isnt that he likes "Black Desert" more, it´s that he doesnt give TESO a chance. I bought Black Desert yesterday just because he likes it and i want to give it a chance. And i payed money for black desert and I boughted him TESO so he doesnt need to waste money for the test.

Except where the licence holders sold the licence to scammers (or something approximating, don't remember exactly what) and it's just a cash shop with pretty graphics and quite typical of all Korean grindfests.

I dont care about the money I wasted on buying him the game he is my best friend i played round about 2000 hours with him in Leage of Legends so the money I invested in the game for the try to convince him to play it isnt that hard for me. Its more about the way he thinks: I have the better MMO so go and play mine! instead of test bouth and play the one that makes more fun at all.

Getting someone to start a new MMO can be tough, especially as you have more responsibilities (job, kids, family, house, etc). It's no doubt a time investment. I typically can only play 1 or 2 games at a time effectively. As someone mentioned, sounds like he's made up his mind where he wants to use his time while playing. Bummer that you already bought the game though. Best thing you can do is show him cool aspects of the game. I was already a big TES lore fan, so making the jump into ESO was easier than playing something completely fresh. It was a toss up between ESO and FFXIV for me, but what sold me was the options for solo play in ESO.

Maybe his hopes for ESO were dashed by misinformation.
I can't believe i do this, but I worry that the constant negativity on the ZOS forums scares away new players.
I sure hope it doesn't, because this is a great game with a great future.

We re bouth in school we play round about 7 hours after school so time isnt the problem here. But i understand what you are talking about TES is one of my favourit gaming lore!

That's sad that he wont' give it a chance after you even went to the trouble to buy it for him. Maybe send him some beautiful screenshots you've taken from time to time, like a postcard with the words 'Wish you were here!' at the bottom. ;)

He didnt even give it a try. He watched no TESO videos or read threads he just doesnt want to try it out. But he likes MMO´s like I said he just thinks "Black Desert" is a way better MMO but he didnt even play it yet. I just want that he gives the game a chance.

    I think I can help...

    1. Invite friend over after school to just hang out; don't mention any games specifically, at this stage you nust want to get friend in the house.
    2. Load up your friend's favorite game and make some snacks.
    3. While friend is distracted by the pretty lights of his favorite game, pour some ether into a cloth (becareful of dosage).
    4. Apply cloth to distracted friend'd mouth and nose; apply until friend is subdued.
    5. Tie friend to chair and tape eyelids open, brace head so it faces TV or Monitor; if friend hurt you in struggle with ether rag, you could always shave eyelids off.
    6. Remove friend's favorite game.
    7. Start ESO, ensure you watch all opening cinematics.
    8. Marathon play ESO until your friend breaks and can think of nothing beyond ESO.

    or...

let your friend have his own opinion, and gind people in game to play with.

Those are your only 2 options I believe.

This is not the best time to start ESO.Tbh its better if he doesn't try ESO right now with all these bugs and lag. He will just spread bad word. Push him after next DLC, if they fix some things of course

If your friend makes up his mind about things without trying them or researching them, and then refuses to listen to anything people who have tried them say... Then he's the type of person who's not worth trying to convince of anything. Frankly, if it was me I wouldn't be friends with him at all, because I can't stand dealing with such closed-minded people.

Korean Grindfest, ESO is one of the biggest grindfests i've ever seen so not sure why anyone would mention that lol. What MMO Isn't a grindfest? ESO sells a ton of cash shop items even has to show me a stupid ad when i log in. Then PVP is a two hit kill pissing contest. Go in there with a fresh char and tell me it's not a grindfest to be competitive.

I have a frustrating similar situation with a dear friend who only plays WoW and will continue to play WoW until the servers eventually shut down. All she does is fish, do fishing cooking dailies and dabbles with new characters on her two accounts that have both reached their character limit. I can't imagine how stale that would get for me however she loves Azeroth and doesn't want to try anything else. I've tried getting her into other games and she has tried a few for a few hours but won't play unless I'm around and we sort of twist her arm. I feel bad since there are so many great games out there and it is neat having someone to play with.

I foolishly convinced her to buy ESO (the Imperial Edition) and she did play it for several hours. The controls unfortunately were such a foreign concept and overwhelming. She hasn't been back and refuses to try it again unless there is a whole UI revamp. I wish I could find an addon that makes the interface identical to WoW (Is there even such a thing?) but not even sure if she would be back if this was possible. I love this game so much and really wish that she could see the beauty of Tamriel. Or at least try it.

Anyway, I've learned my lesson about trying to pull someone away from a game they already enjoy. I'm trying to get my spouse back to ESO to play with me but it is a hard sell, especially since he is enthralled with SWTOR. Sad face.

You've got to convince him to at least have a go. The fact that he hasn't even tried it is amazing. But you can't nag him all day, because that will just get annoying and he will decide to never try the game. Just say why not at least give it a go, what's there to lose? :)

He is hard to deal with because for example if I make a mistake ingame I say sry and I try to do it better but if he does a mistake he doesnt accept that it was his mistake and blames other for it. But we played together for a so long time and it just makes fun to play with him even if it has his downsides because he cant criticize himself. Exhausting type of person but yea.

I have couple of friends that enjoy MMORPGs, and we every month or so revisit idea, "lets play some MMO all together", but i never tell them to come play ESO with me. Why? Because if anyone told me everysingle thing that is good and bad about this game(which i know now after over a year of play time), most probably i wouldnt start playing it at all. I like strong end game, as do my friends, and in this game that is nonexistant, aside from PvP which is just unplayable with absurd lag and 5+min loading screens. On the other had if you enjoy pretty landscape and RPing, then this game is great!

Maybe you should tie him up to the chair, next to your gaming machine, and tape the control in his mouth.

Then Say something like "Lets play Bro".

Then play the game while he watches.

He isnt the type of person that just plays one game and doesnt enjoys other. He is worse! He is the type of person that think´s his choices are the right one no matter in what case. He said "Black Desert" is a good MMO and the other ones are less cool to play and so he wont try other MMO´s. I bought him TESO to try it out but he didnt give it a single look. I bought Black Desert to try it out with him and to see how cool it is but this game annoys me with it kinda "Anime" and Asian look but i try it out! Yea he is so damn annoying sometimes. I forced him 2 years to play team fortress 2 and he started playing it 2 month ago and he loves it! But he was to stubborn to give it a chance before. But at all of this negative aspects he is a cool guy i enjoy playing with so i want to show him the world of The Elder Scrolls and force him into it because I know he would enjoy it to play TESO.
