I have way more problems with Focused Aim/heavy sneak attack, gap closers immobilize spam and the Uppercuts in PvP. They aren't even Ultimates like Overload, but kills me way faster.
So I dont get is why Overload is the problem. It's also mitigated by CP and has no secondary effects or cc. I just spam light armor shield personally if I cant LoS or need to save stamina.
Overload is also cursed by the "projectile travelling times v.s performance v.s moving targets" phenomena in PvP. Half the time the bolt wont even reach or connect to it's target.
But I do think Overload is a bit over-tuned in PvE. It allows even mediocre dps to use force tactics on bosses and ignore mechanics. Like, if you want use force tactic with other classes the dps needs to be tight with perfectly timed rotation. Sorc's can suck and still pull it of as long as they saved 1000 ulti. But it's not like the NPC's are going to complain about it lol.

You Will NUKE yourself.
Exactly. I'm even afraid of throwing an ice commet into a large crowd from the fear of hitting a DK lol

Perhaps you guys have *** builds? lol
Dawnbreaker does 30K+ to Undead, Soul Strike can do as much as 45k, Meteor easily does 30-40k if the target stays in the area. Then, theres the AoE ultimates that do 10k+ to EACH target in the area: Bat Swarm, Dragon Leap, Soul Harvest, etc. Meaning, if you use it on 3 or more people, it does over 30k!

The problem with sorc pve DPS without overload is - it sucks.
It´s a poorly designed ability but as soon as the fight is not stationary for a sorc to break 16k dps you need overload. That´s the state the class is in for pve.
Edit: I don´t want to see overload nerfed - i´d much rather see it changed entirely - but that´s unlikely to happen as it would require a rework of sorc dps for pve.

Easy ways to counter overload
DKs-reflective scales, shuffle, defensive stance, stack shields, roll dodge
Templar- shuffle, defensive stance, eclipse, stack shields, roll dodge
NB- cloak, shuffle, double take, defensive stance, stack shields, roll dodge
Sorcs-shuffle, defensive stance, stack shields, roll dodge

The thing is even in PvE it's not as OP as you think, when used correctly it is really
Powerful but you then have to sacrifice ultimates for other fights, take sanctum for example, I go in with my sorc already at 1000 ultimate I then burn down the manticora pulling decent DPS probably
Higher than most the DKs (who still
Pull high numbers) anyway after that fight I do not use it again until the very end boss so running through the rest of the trial I do not use it all, now I know this isn't particularly difficult but your numbers still drop, then again use it on the final
Boss (unless your on lamia duty) and then pull good numbers again, but if you averaged out the numbers throughout the whole dungeon a sorc will be pretty close to a magicka DK it's all about knowing when to use it and when to build it up
Make Overload projectiles be animated like Dark Flare. Make them suffer!

Yeah. What sorc would even use that in PVP?I have literally never been killed by Overload alone and I love reflecting it with my DK. I also don't ever use Overload in PvP or know any other good Sorcs that do.
In other words... L2P issue.
