I would be, but I'm kinda bummed that I won't be able to hunt criminal scums with my enforcer because the second part of the justice system is not coming.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I always used it for more storage. Lol.

The difference being they just confirmed player housing and said they ditched justice PvP system... But you go ahead and be snarky :)

With all due respect, they've said they're going to do a lot of things they later decided not to do. Don't be surprised when people show cynicism, ZOS has earned it. That doesn't mean you have to share the cynicism of course, positivity certainly isn't a bad thing, just understand a lot of people have been burned by things in the past.

That being said I am curious how they'd implement housing. If it's well done I'm sure I'll goof around with it, at least as far as in-game currency is concerned. Might drop a bit of money if it's really cool, if it's cash-shop only or poorly implemented though I'll most likely personally ignore it.

One thing that attracts people to MMOs is the ability to be expressive, whether it be designing cool attire for one's character, setting up a great combat bar that kicks ass and looks awesome while doing it, or designing a personal space.

SWTOR for example has a pretty brilliant housing system. While a lot of their furniture comes from the cash shop, some of the coolest-looking trophy items come from end-game content. This allows players and guilds to show off their accomplishments to visitors.

Personally, I would love to fill my house full of Daedric artifacts and eldritch curiosities.

Maybe. If it is done like most the housing i have seen lately, it will really just be one portal everyone uses to go into their own house. So everyone will still be in one zone.

im hoping they do something with it, but yes it is cosmetic, but many people like those things it helps them be immersed into the game

And very possibly in 2016 great news. I hope they put alot of work and into it as i am sure they will, and give us lots of options inside and out, location etc.

Cant wait for it ZOS and a big thanks.

I get why your excited,. i really am, but please keep in mind this is a MMO,. you wont be having hearthfire (Skyrim Housing DLC) quality houses

If this were a perfect world, I would want housing like SWG had it. I realize this is extremely unlikely to happen, but that would be how I would want it. This is why I suggested we have our housing battled over in Oblivion, because it would open up free space that had nothing to do with Tamriel. I'm referring to sandbox gameplay. This game will very likely never approach sandbox gameplay, so I think housing will probably be nothing more than a gear storage/swap location with crafting features and trophy storage. It might also let people showcase their artistry as well. If it can do more than that I would be really excited though. One of the best parts of SWG was the way guilds could come together and strategize city design as well as artistically make their cities/homes look cool. It mixed the artistic nature of player housing with functionality, which I really liked. Crafting was also more than just crafting. It was commodity dealing/gathering, trading, brokering, crafting, and manufacture. It required social networks to perform at the top end, something that I feel no other mmo has come close to since (at least none that I'm aware of).

It doesn't need to be this way, but it probably will, given the way social spaces have developed post-SWG. It is a real shame that the industry moved away from the true sandbox model in SWG, because it really leveraged the power of what an MMO has to offer. I think a lot of people perceived that change as a failure and it really hasn't taken off since because most sandboxes half-ass the content and don't look at it from a holistic point of view.

I may be in the minority in this, but a purchasable, customizable practice dummy would also be nice. One that lets you set debuffs it'd have on it and all that so you could test a rotation/enchants and all that on one. It'd be handy to test things when maybe your static isn't around or something.

They could sell a "box" or "crate" that gives you access to your bank account storage in your home. I've seen other games to that.

I don't know how far they'll go with this, but they could "sell" (in the Crown Store, of course) working crafting stations that you could put in your home. I wouldn't expect them to be cheap, however.
    Faulgor wrote: »
I should be happy about this, because housing was always important to me in the single player games.

But we should be realistic. Housing will add nothing to the game, only to the Crown Store.
If you are buying pets right now, housing could be your thing.
If not, best not get your hopes up for anything meaningful.

I doubt it will be meaningful, either, and housing was very important to me in every other TES title I've played. Honestly, I really could care less in this game. It will simply be decoration - and expensive decoration.

Personally, I'd rather have the option to purchase more character slots. But I'm okay with player housing, too. A lot of people want it and they should have it.

    Ideas for player housing:

    - NO rentals/recurring crown payments. If anything related to player housing ends up in the crown store, make it a 1 time payment.
    - Armour/weapon displays (mannequins/racks).
    - Trophy fish/monster collectibles displays.
    - Personal storage space (chests, strongboxes, cabinets...).
    - Dressing room for previewing any armour/costume in any weight/style/dye (crafting station preview is TINY and all but useless).
    - Cooking fire, alchemy/enchanting table, non-set crafting stations.

I would be STUNNED if Zeni did NOT make player housing depended upon a monthly payment of some kind, considering the number of people who want it, the potential for profit and the need to clear away deadbeats (people who no longer play the game).

I expect playing housing will require either (1) a subscription to the game (and if you don't pay your sub, you lose your housing), or (2) a monthly rental fee. It probably be in crowns, which means now you'll be working for your rent!!!

    C'mon, think of the immersion!!!

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

The heroes during times of war, are nothing but mass murderers during times of peace.

I'm interested to see where this will go as well. Provided access can be toggled between open, whitelisted, and closed, it has a lot potential for the Social quarter of the ESO community (i.e. roleplayers) as well as for Guilds.

Achievers, Explorers, and Killers will likely find very little to get excited over, but that doesn't mean it's irrelevant. As others have pointed out, many of the items in the crown store caters to those players who favor Social gameplay, and the more income the game gets, the longer it can be self-sustaining. Thus, those "worthless" housing upgrades that will no doubt be monetized in some form are helping pay for future PvE and PvP content, bugfixes, and other developments.

I was pretty lukewarm to Imperial City, and I barely did more than explore a couple rooms in the sewers so far, but I see the benefit in catering to the Killer community as they are just as valid, even if that's not my personal cup of tea.

Whether this particular mode of catering (or any prior and future modes) was handled correctly or smoothly.... well, that's an entirely different argument best suited to separate threads of conversation...

I have high hopes for the future housing content, but I'm sane enough to adopt a "wait and see" approach before I delve into the emotional realm of "excitement."

Housing and social can go a long way to keeping a game interesting, helping build friendships and giving players more to do when they get tired of finally questing or grinding. This is a large part of a reason Ultima Online had a lot of staying power. The combat was fairly decent, but the social and community aspects of the game were amazing.
