And very possibly in 2016 great news. I hope they put alot of work and into it as i am sure they will, and give us lots of options inside and out, location etc.

Yes, big thanks to Zenimax for spending their time and resources on steering away what made their game truly unique; the combat system. And adding something mundane and ordinary such as decorating a house that can be done in the real world every day. Good job. /sarcrasm

Houses are already in game, doors are not interactible, but if you're good at jumping you can get inside. Not much to see though.

I know there're people who are excited about this so grats to them and hope they enjoy it(unless ZOS does same to houses it already did to spellcrafting and Justice system of course).
Me, I see this as just more useless fluff(which we have more than enough in Crown Store already) instead of actually adding meaningful new content(*cough* new group dungeon anyone? *cough*) or fixing long standing issues and all:/

Besides customizing a house, I cant see there being any other use for it other than it just being something pretty you have. I'm pretty sure you wont be able to store any gear in your house as this would make the bank and its size upgrades utterly pointless then.

I can't stand a chance against groups because of AOE caps, my class is completely broken, I get snared and can't turn around every time people spam gap closers, lag is destroying Cyrodiil, but I HOPE I CAN WASH DISHES IN MY NEW HOUSE

Housing is going to be a money maker. Thats why they are doing it. They will sell all kinds of decor on the crown store. People right now are spending $20 on mounts. They will spend even more on their house.

Ideas for player housing:

- NO rentals/recurring crown payments. If anything related to player housing ends up in the crown store, make it a 1 time payment.
- Armour/weapon displays (mannequins/racks).
- Trophy fish/monster collectibles displays.
- Personal storage space (chests, strongboxes, cabinets...).
- Dressing room for previewing any armour/costume in any weight/style/dye (crafting station preview is TINY and all but useless).
- Cooking fire, alchemy/enchanting table, non-set crafting stations.

Spellcrafting and justice system are on the backburner while housing fluff became top priority.

Every addition to the game is welcome, but I wish they would prioritise combat.
Which other game has a combat system that lives off of being broken (attack weaving)?

I care about player housing. I REALLY want guild cities though. No mention of them however. But I am not at all excited by this "announcement." Read it again folks. ALL they have said they are going to be doing in 2016 is START TALKING about player housing. That means.... exactly nothing. It means we MIGHT see it...in 2017. But hey no promises!

I just use the start house in Daggerfall for my DC characters as home - i find every day some stuff which is in chests, baskets and drawers, there is food on the table and there are 2 book shelfs, which I check daily, because they give sometimes XP as well - and there is a fireplace to cook the food as well - the Daggerfall bank is not far away, so I have access to storage nearby. On top of it this house is instanced, I will not be disturbed by other players who use this as well as a home.

Just give me a freakin armory and charge me for it I don't care the re-spec system currently in game is so cost prohibitive it's not funny.

And the console crowd complained so much at the.last skill reset patch I don't think we will be getting a free skill re-set, joy

They would be crazy not to add it. Think of all the money they can make selling reskinned housing items. You think reskinned mounts are exciting, wait until you have 50 couches to purchase! Im so excited!

It's ok, maybe you'll be able to buy a daedric dishwashing scamp with ap. Meanwhile how many cp can I get for mopping the floor? Would my time be better spent sweeping or is laundry really the most efficient way since I might get tailoring mats to drop?

Housing is a worthless addition wasting time and resources unless you make it useful. Rift for example has the worst, as in you can do nothing but decorate. EQ2 and swtor have the best as in they offer useful options that cause you to want to have housing and use it..

I get why your excited,. i really am, but please keep in mind this is a MMO,. you wont be having hearthfire (Skyrim Housing DLC) quality houses

For those dissing the fact that they're putting in player housing:

The game doesn't revolve around you. While you may not care, player housing is a highly requested feature since launch.

Other issues such as lag, bugs and balancing are being looked into. Yes, they are long overdue, I'm the first to say that. But dropping player housing probably doesn't mean all the devs working on it will be assigned to those other issues.

I should be happy about this, because housing was always important to me in the single player games.

But we should be realistic. Housing will add nothing to the game, only to the Crown Store.
If you are buying pets right now, housing could be your thing.
If not, best not get your hopes up for anything meaningful.

Forgive me but can someone explain why you'd even want housing? Won't this just mean less people on the map and just doing nothing? The only benefit I can think of is storage space.

Well everyone will have a different reason to be happy about it. You know how people love to customise and role play? Well this will be an opportunity to have more of that. Storage would be great, also the ability to hang guild tabards to represent them, and have the ability to invite friends into your house. You could show off your decorations, or role play celebrations or meetings. Could even have guild meetups in them
