How many of you actually defeated Sinmur without collecting any of the Shards of Wuuthgar? If you did, did you have fun fighting Sinmur? It was quite an amusing fight for me (did it in Cadwell's Silver) :)

Same, cadwell's silver, no shards. The way the companions were talking suggested I would need other players to help me defeat him without the shards. Maybe at one point in time of the game.

The fight took a loooooooong time though lol, but I didn't have any threat of dying.

Jorunn is a pro tank. That's the mark of a good leader.

I'm a Nightblade in Medium Armor, not even 10k Physical Resistance, and the Giant's shockwaves did at most 1/4 damage to me (if they hit). Whats his face that merged with Sinmur was much more threatening, and I was still able to fend him off.

No, boss was fine. The Pact just underestimated the Vestige B) or overrated Sinmur, or both.

Basically you were supposed to go to various places in The Rift and do quests there. You would eventually stumble upon the shards, assuming you went questing after Honrich and before Trolhetta.

I did mainstory in both silver and gold, then I went back and completed sidequests. Thats probably the reason.

Actually I wasn't even using my planned out set, just workin' on Siphoning, Blade Cloak, and Bow.

    My setup at the time
Bow: Venom Shot, Scorched Earth, Magnum Shot, Bombard, Swallow Soul (wasn't 38 Bow yet)
Swords: Shadow Cloak, Retreating Maneuver, Power Extraction, Siphoning Attacks, Blade Cloak

So yeah, wasn't even going at it 100% lol

I was in the middle of training my restoration staff skill line as well as unlocking morphs for everything, even useless (to me) ones, so I had completely random things on my slots at the time.

It was a good way to learn the uses of abilities I'd have never considered using before though.

Force Siphon proved quite useful to me on many an occasion, especially morphed into Quick Siphon!

First time I fought him, I collected the shards but I didn't know how to use it in battle due excessive dialog skipping. It was in Cadwell Gold and it wasn't a too hard fight but it was very long fight.

Even with the dialog, I still didn't know how to use them. Playing as a NB, the fight took nearly an hour. The giant wasn't the problem as much as Sinmar was, rebuilding health.

After taking him down, the giant was pretty much run behind pillar (you know, the one with the freaking shard on it right there!), jab, repeat.

Funny thing is, when playing my sorc, I hit YT to figure out how to use the shards. Fight was over in 10 minutes. :expressionless:

I preferred the NB fight. A fight worthy of the NB skills.

For me, the worst fight in the entire game came at the end of Bangkorai. No spoilers but let's just say I'd rather dance with Mannimarco on highest difficulty than go through this again.

Wait. My sorc is in Bangkorai! :open_mouth:

LOL. I totally thought "Sinmer"... as in sinful elves.

hmm... The term "Sei'dar" means an act of selfishness in old Ehlnofex. The Seimer (pronounced "sigh-mur") could be a race of elves with horns... skin could range from blues to deep reds. That would be kind of cool.

Their name would mean "The selfish people".

Apparently when I first did the quest, the shard objective was bugged to hell, and even if you collected them all you still had to whittle down all 4 quadrillion of his HP. As a tank with laughable DPS it was probably a 30-40 minute fight.

There's always the Sinismer, the Lefthanded elves of old yokuda who, by Redguard account, did a lot of sinning.

Oh that's right @theroyalestpythonnub18_ESO I forgot about the Sinistral Mer. Are they actually called the Sinismer? I don't recall ever seeing that. I like it though!

Honestly @theroyalestpythonnub18_ESO it's always bothered me that their "name" is a two part name... I like the shortened version. Of course sinistral is an actual word that means "relating to the left side" . So in the context of Mer naming conventions, it doesn't even really make any sense.

Did it in Cadwell's silver. The shards wouldn't work for me so I had to whittle him down the old fashioned way.

If you know the trick that fight is painfully boring. The biggest problem I have is hurting the main villain so much they fail to return for the next round. You have to run all the way back to the start area for the zone to get them to reappear.

To easily win the fight cross the water to the SW. Then come back towards the main battle area. The mobs won't try to follow over water and when you do return they will slowly dribble towards you 2 at a time and are easy pickings with ranged attacks. It also gives you a chance to heal and reset potion cool downs.

They look an awful lot like Daedra, Gidorick. Funny thing about that, when I first started playing Morrowind, and based upon a couple of the books I read, I had the feeling that Daedra and Elves were distant cousins of one another. Given their propensity to be villainous monsters like Mannimarco, I'm not sure they've shaken that image in my mind. :P

Thank you for the tip (spoiler), Pytor went up against Sinmar and was able to kill him but then was stomped by the giant (Pytor was trapped between stone stairs and pillars, couldn't dodge or jump anywhere) and killed, so didn't complete. I tried that quest many times and was killed every time.

The next time I attempt it I will try with a combat partner, preferably a resto healer.

Any other tips with this quest?
