Same, cadwell's silver, no shards. The way the companions were talking suggested I would need other players to help me defeat him without the shards. Maybe at one point in time of the game.
The fight took a loooooooong time though lol, but I didn't have any threat of dying.
Jorunn is a pro tank. That's the mark of a good leader.
Simply bad design of the boss.
I dont remember any shards, but I remember that fight took me forever. Maybe I missed something?

Basically you were supposed to go to various places in The Rift and do quests there. You would eventually stumble upon the shards, assuming you went questing after Honrich and before Trolhetta.

I was in the middle of training my restoration staff skill line as well as unlocking morphs for everything, even useless (to me) ones, so I had completely random things on my slots at the time.
It was a good way to learn the uses of abilities I'd have never considered using before though.
Even with the dialog, I still didn't know how to use them. Playing as a NB, the fight took nearly an hour. The giant wasn't the problem as much as Sinmar was, rebuilding health.magnusthorek wrote: »First time I fought him, I collected the shards but I didn't know how to use it in battle due excessive dialog skipping.

LOL. I totally thought "Sinmer"... as in sinful elves.

There's always the Sinismer, the Lefthanded elves of old yokuda who, by Redguard account, did a lot of sinning.

After taking him down, the giant was pretty much run behind pillar (you know, the one with the freaking shard on it right there!), jab, repeat.
Funny thing is, when playing my sorc, I hit YT to figure out how to use the shards. Fight was over in 10 minutes.
I preferred the NB fight. A fight worthy of the NB skills.
For me, the worst fight in the entire game came at the end of Bangkorai. No spoilers but let's just say I'd rather dance with Mannimarco on highest difficulty than go through this again.
Wait. My sorc is in Bangkorai!
LOL. I totally thought "Sinmer"... as in sinful elves.
hmm... The term "Sei'dar" means an act of selfishness in old Ehlnofex. The Seimer (pronounced "sigh-mur") could be a race of elves with horns... skin could range from blues to deep reds. That would be kind of cool.
Their name would mean "The selfish people".

If you know the trick that fight is painfully boring. The biggest problem I have is hurting the main villain so much they fail to return for the next round. You have to run all the way back to the start area for the zone to get them to reappear. To easily win the fight cross the water to the SW. Then come back towards the main battle area. The mobs won't try to follow over water and when you do return they will slowly dribble towards you 2 at a time and are easy pickings with ranged attacks. It also gives you a chance to heal and reset potion cool downs.
