Vet Rank Removal Question for the Developers.

Dear @ZOS_GinaBruno ,

I am in the process of leveling a new toon (already have 5 vr15+). I checked the dev tracker and found that the most recent update on the vet rank removal was from you in October. As best I can tell the official stance is that it is still planned and more details will be given when that time gets closer. I am good with all of that, I completely understand ZOS's current stance to not make any hard fast statements until the decisions are finalized. That said can we get an update on this? I am guessing it is still planned....I am guessing we won't get more details until ZOS is ready....can we at least get a time line? I want to be able to make an educated decision on whether to level to VR1 and wait or to level to VR16.

I realize ZOS probably doesn't even know the exact dates on this but some sort of time frame info would be much appreciated even as simple as "not in the next xyz days/weeks/months/years" or "less than a year but more than 3 months if we stay on schedule" or "it is still our plan but we are not actively working on that atm due to other projects and we anticipate it will take xyz days/weeks/months/years to complete if/when we do get around to working on it" ... I am not looking to hold you to a statement just enough so that I can decide what I want to put time and effort into based on an anticipated timeline.

Your Biggest Fan,
Faugaun

We still know nothing of the timeline, but since you mentioned October, you may have missed this post by Rich Lambert in November (head over to that thread if you want more info):
A little context here before this gets too out of hand…
    1. We’re still working on the system – nothing is finalized. (which is why we’re not really talking much about it yet)
    2. The intention is that once you hit 50, champion points take over. Veteran Ranks are completely removed.
    3. When Veteran Ranks are removed, we will convert any Veteran Ranks on your highest character into CP.
    4. To get a rough idea of balance - think of 10CP = 1 VR. (so 160 CP will roughly = VR16)

    Additional Details:
    • We’re planning on giving 2.5 CP for every VR level you’ve earned on your highest level character. (40 for a VR16 character)
    • When the conversion happens, any player with CP less than their old veteran rank * 10 will instead be given enough CP such that their total is VR * 10. For example: A player is VR14 with 75 CP, they will be given 65 CP (140-75) instead of 40, so that they can still equip any gear they may have.
    • We will make sure the 16 attribute picks you got from VR1 to VR16 will carry over. (current plan is an achievement that goes up in 10 CP increments until 160)

Keep in mind that none of the stuff above is 100% locked in. We're still implementing the feature - things are subject to change. It's important that everyone understands they are not suddenly going to have to have 501 CP in order to equip the top level gear. We will introduce new gear, with higher CP requirements sometime in the future, but we won't be making huge jumps. (i.e. - we won't go from 160 to 400 suddenly)

Once we finalize the system and lock in more of the details, we will discuss things in more detail and answer questions.

@enodoc thanks for that, it helps to understand a little @ZOS_RichLambert to clarify it is confirmed that only compensation for the highest level character will occur? or can we expect a lesser benefit from our other VR toons? I would be really nice if we just got say 2.5 cp for each VR level on highest toon and maybe 1.5 per VR level on our other toons.

    So a Person with
5x vr16 would get 40+24+24+24+24 or 136 total cp from the conversion. Of course they would still be limited by the CP cap if they went over the cap they would just get credit towards when the cap is raised. On another note, any news on when the cp cap might be raised?

    Nothing is "confirmed".

What Enodoc posted is the most current plan. If their plans change, they'll tell us (maybe).

I highly doubt that they have made any firm decisions at all yet, so they can't give you any further answer as to what to "expect", other than what's already been said.

Good to see what they're going for at least. Wonder where this will leave things like Codwell's Silver and Gold? I would like to see that go away personally, but I could see them leaving that in for various reasons. I still don't really see too much of a benefit though as it stand. Instead of grinding for VR levels we're now grinding for CP, it just seems to me that its pretty much the same thing, unless the grind for CP will be quicker somehow and you can equip gear and weapons that required said CP faster. I guess I'll just take the wait and see approach. No use speculating until they actually come up with the confirm system...

Personally I don't think there should be any conversion/compensation at all. We already had that when CPs were first introduced (5 CPs per VR, or 1 CP per 200k XP), so why do we need it again? That's basically getting twice the CP reward for content that's already been done.

Cadwell's isn't going anywhere. The rumour is that some of the access restrictions will be lifted though.

I hope they make silver and gold just scalable zones kinda like wrothgar and then you finish the main questline and get 12 zones that you can goto in any order.
