Anyone getting the Oculus Rift for eso?

I'm not. I purchased the google cardboard thing just to see what all the buzz was about with virtual reality and I was dissapointed. It's the same thing as that 80s toy 'View Master'. I didn't feel I was inside the game, just felt like a giant screen was on my face. I think that is how Oculus Rift is going to be.

TESO needs a wardrobe system badly. Something similar to WoW's tmog system would make this game one of the best mmorpg out there!

I don't think ESO will support OR. But at that price it doesn't matter much...

It all depends on the game. I've heard it's pretty wild with Skyrim, especially when on top of mountains looking down.

So I can watch the game lag in VR on an overpriced rig I'd have to buy only for this? No thanks.

Not sure if it will support the Rift, but I do know some of my guild mates are playing ESO in 3d/virtual reality already.

My son got the Samsung Gear VR for Christmas, and it's actually pretty badass - taking into account the limited graphics abilities and so forth, it's still pretty impressive. I can only imagine how awesome something like ESO or Skyrim would look on it...

That said, the hardware requirements for Occulus Rift are completely insane and I won't be getting it at least until the price of the hardware is a bit more sensible. A co-worker sent me this email this morning:

    http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Oculus-Rift-System-Requirements-Announced-71938.html

“On the raw rendering costs: a traditional 1080p game at 60Hz requires 124 million shaded pixels per second. In contrast, the Rift runs at 2160×1200 at 90Hz split over dual displays, consuming 233 million pixels per second. At the default eye-target scale, the Rift’s rendering requirements go much higher: around 400 million shaded pixels per second. This means that by raw rendering costs alone, a VR game will require approximately 3x the GPU power of 1080p rendering.”

Yeah, my single Radeon 290X just ain't gonna cut it. :o

I have the gtx 960, am one tier down in the gcard department for making the minimum requirements.

You should try a real VR set.

Getting it just for ESO would be the biggest purchasing blunder, ever.

I plan on picking up the PlayStation VR when it's out (no I don't play ESO or any MMO on my console)

I'll get Rift for PC when the controllers are released late in the year

    Lolno.

There's a myriad reasons why I won't touch the Occulus Rift, but price and system specs are the top two reason (right now).

I don't even think it will be successful in any way, especially now that the price and system specs are officially advertised.

I look at it this way: If Gaming is viable as a hobby (which it is :D), PC and Console are the two major segregations of that hobby. Having the peak of high-end specs in a PC is niche in the PC side, then releasing a gimmick that requires PC specs to be the "highest of the high-end" makes this a niche of a niche situation.

In other words, this is only going to appeal to, or be available to, a very, very small market of Gamers. I don't think it's going to be the "future" of Gaming, and it definitely won't unless that price tag and system specs get much more reasonable.

Erm... saying you've experienced VR because you tried Google Cardboard is like saying you've raced because you've put the peddle to the carpet in your Mazda Protégé...

I plan on getting the PS VR... I'm not planning on getting any other VR (not counting my Samsung VR that I already own).

My neck hurts thinking about it. Is this the default position to play again with Oculus-rift? I could not imaging playing a game like that.

I tried playing ESO with my nVidia 3D setup and while the geometry looks good, the shadows are rendered as post process *after* the world to screen space transformation, meaning they do not exist in 3D but are flat and out of place and even worse they tend to flicker horribly.

Plus, the UI is also rendered flat making it appear too close to your eyes. Same goes for the crosshair and in-game icons like quest markers.

PS: All ZOS would really have to do is to render everything in actual 3D space before the transform and the game would look amazing in 3D!

That is odd. I play ESO with nVidia 3D all the time and I'm not having any problems with it. I found it pretty good out of the box, but Helixmod removes just about all remaining issues.

Also tried OR in Elite Dangerous and was very disappointed. Nvidia 3D vision doesn't put you in the game, but it does show the world in 3D and full resolution (some say even more, as each eye gets a separate view). Maybe the machine just wasn't up to the job, but what machine is? According to this article only 1% of current computers. Odds are that in order to run VR at all, you're going to have to tone down your gfx settings greatly.

Please stop making requests for game features. ZOS have enough bad ideas as it is!

For anyone who is skeptical about VR , you really need to wait until you have tried it for yourself. I have an Oculus Rift DK1 and i have seen a whole new world of gaming potential. It really is the future. There is really gimmicky VR out right now (cell phone related or 3D crap) but Oculus and other big company's are gonna change gaming with no doubt in my mind.

VR is amazing. It is very very immersive. I swear i felt like i was in another world. You need to try VR with one of the big company VR product's to really know what it's like. YOU CANNOT have an opinion until you have tried it, i was even skeptical about it but then i tried it and it was just magical. Word's don't describe it. The immersion was unreal. I put the headset on my parent's with just a simple DEMO and they were trying to grab at thing's and falling all over the place.

Any VR with phone's is straight up garbage. I've tried them and they don't even compare to the Oculus DK1, the funny thing is though... the consumer version for oculus is already leap's ahead of Oculus Dk1 that i own. Better everything.

After hour's worth of VR gaming i am totally Pro VR.

No joke, 1 year from now when there's VR stand's in Future Shops / Best Buy's... anyone who is skeptical with quickly change their mind. VR is the future and it look's so damn good.

Could Eso work well with VR?

I believe so. First Person would work flawlessly. Third Person would even work as well, you just are looking above your character and you can look left and right or even behind you. It's immersive to play in third person but it's way way better in first person.

However VR only work's if it's supported. Which i don't think will happen on Eso because it's not even close to being polished performance wise.

VR need's to have locked 60fps with no screen tearing or you will have problem's. VR need's very very high computer spec's and game's that are stable. If not you will start to feel sick because your brain think's something's wrong when it's really just the game. I've felt sick even on game's that are running smooth, it's just so new to experience it's a lot to take in.

Requirements for it are fine. The piece of hardware needed to change the industry that has been catering for all the cheap asses out there and really push amd and nvidia to release decent products.
This recent update has made me sad. Sad for the game. Sad for the community. Sad to pay whatever it is now. I want the previous eso back.

The fact Mark Zuckerburg bought out Zogulus Rift is enough reason to stay away. Zogulus Rift is the tool of the NWO. Something about reading brain waves and other DARPA biometric technology.
